I felt this deserved a thread of its own. Myself & Peter Ariz , as well as Andrew Ivins from 247 have mentioned him quite a few times between The Recruiting Board and TOS.

Every time that I hear more and see more of this kid... The more I am impressed.

Converted from WR to DB over the offseason. Big 6'2" kid, very athletic, long wingspan. He went to the LSU camp and performed as a DB and that was a wrap. Blew up since then. Miami is very close to offering.

He's committed to LSU but from what I've understood, Miami could flip him if they push hard enough for him.

He hasn't even come close to scraping his potential, considering that he really started focusing on DB just a few months ago. His potential is scary.

He visited for the FAMU and FAU game, he was also here in the summer for a visit.

This is from the other week. 2 INTs, 1 fumble recovery for a TD and 6 tackles. - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7p5IKAmMOUs

I keep repeating and saying it in here and Twitter. It is critical that Miami lands the best of the best down here at DB in 2018. I have Nadab Joseph in that top tier.

A lot of good ones are going to get away next year, so we have to get the best. Not enough spots to take everyone.

Who do you consider to be in that top tier besides Joseph?

If we keep who we already have at DB in 18 and add Blades(obviously) and either this dude or Gurvan Hall that is a stacked class to add to what we are already getting in 17. Future couldn't look much brighter.

Geo how do you presume we land every single elite 2018 DB? 4 DBs in 2017 plus we already have Jobe, Frierson, and Ivey for 2018(im assuming young Blades will commit and even if he waits till signing day we dont say no to that type of talent). So thats 8 fresh soph DBs in 2017 & 2018 not every1 will stick & we sure as **** aint landing all of them. Just curious because i know your also very high on Gurvan Hall

he killed a guy and got an unsportsmanlike on the first play of his highlight tape. that's all i need to see. get this kid on board.

We got the two best safeties in frierson and jobe, with al blades probably recommitting, ivey already committed and it looking like we might get campbel, this kid has talent but the board dont favor him IMO

That second video isn't from the spring. It's from 2 years ago when he played for New Generation. That RB that he hit sticked was Jordan Cronkrite.

They had 2 kids on that team that looked athletic and had good length. One was Joseph. Forgot the other one.

I'm greedy, get em all. Y not? Create the 2018 "no fly zone" class.

Need more converted WRs as DBs...the instincts on the ball and catching abilities are top notch. I like Joseph, a lot. We need to offer. We're not going to keep everyone, but the upper echelon kids need to stay home...I consider him one of those types.

Gotta wonder if the staff starts slow playing dj ivey at some point with all the DB talent next class

The staff is very high on DJ Ivey, I am myself. Was raving about that kid when I found him in February. He will continue to blow up.

They understand how stacked it is next year at DB, they took him knowing that. Speaks levels to what they think about him.

A couple of our commits were there at the camp when DJ got his offer. From one of them during the camp "They like DJ a lot, they're gonna offer him."

Al Blades Jr.
Isaiah Bolden
Amari Burney
Tyson Campbell
Gilbert Frierson
Gurvan Hall
DJ Ivey
Tyreke Johnson
Nadab Joseph
Asante Samuel Jr.
Cajuan CJ Smith
Patrick Surtain Jr.
Dominick Watt

In the second video above Joseph gets walked after the interception at the :30 ( by who is what is disturbing ). Top end speed doesn't seem to be there.

The two best safeties in the state next year are Josh Jobe & Tyreke Johnson IMO. They're 1a & 1b for me. After that, the group would be Gurvan Hall, Gilbert Frierson, Nadab Joseph, Cajuan CJ Smith & Dominick Watt. You could debate between those guys. I think Gurvan has an enormous amount of potential, I think he could be the best of any from 2018 with coaching.

To comment on what and how many we could/should take. It would be an absolute mistake if the staff doesn't finish that 2018 DB class with 6-7 quality DBs. A lot of good ones are going to get away, but the staff needs to identify the best ones. Finding guys like Ivey and Hall is a step in the right direction.

Al Blades Jr.
Tyson Campbell
Gilbert Frierson
Gurvan Hall
DJ Ivey
Josh Jobe

You leave one more spot open if a guy like Nadab Joseph, CJ Smith, Dominick Watt or even Patrick Surtain Jr. or Tyreke Johnson wants in. (I don't think Surtain or Tyreke will be here. I have Surtain tabbed for LSU, for a while now.)

Sadly from what I've heard and understood, the staff is not high on Asante Samuel. Many DBs in 2018, so I am not going to get hung up on that.

3 things though. CJ Smith, Oxbridge connection is there and he's very interested but I have been told Clemson and FSU would be the front runners.(Grew up a big Nole fan) I'm sure Miami will pursue but I don't have him tabbed for here.

Dominick Watt would probably commit to Miami if he was offered. Two things with him though, he's **** bent on being a WR(Always felt he has a much higher ceiling at DB). The other, Jon Richt came to his school back in the spring and asked for his transcripts. Most coaches do that before offering (hint hint: grades).

Nadab Joseph, despite his commitment to LSU. From what I have been told, Miami is close to offering him and a hard push could flip him. LSU coaching issue could play a factor too.

I would put my money on Nadab being that extra DB that could end up in that class. I'm positive the staff would not turn down a guy if he's one of the more higher tier guys in 2018.

Keep an eye on guys like Trenell Troutman, Randy Russell, Keidron Smith, Jakari Starling, Miguel Edwards, Stanley Garner and Jalen Patterson(despite his commitment) as potential risers. I like Troutman a lot and from what Pete heard, the staff does too.

Plus commenting on our roster that could potentially come back that year.

CB:
Redwine - SR
Jackson - SR
Malek - JR
Bandy - SO
CJ - rFR or SO
Edwards - rFR or SO??? (I have been told there is some grade concerns. He was supposed to Enroll Early before he tried transferring to STA. I have been told different scenarios between "he didn't have the grades to get into STA" & "His credits didn't transfer over properly to STA".)

S:
Jaquan - SR (I've watch him play since his Killian days, he's talented enough to be a 3 and out.)

Knowles - rJR

Ced - JR (I expect him to play a similar role in the defense to what Jaquan is playing now.)

Jeff - rSO (Jeff is a complete unknown, I am not sure what to expect from him.)

Amari - SO

Billy - rFR or SO (I think Billy could end up a LB down the line, depending how much weight his frame can hold.)

I'm a firm believer that Romeo Finley will end up being a LB'er here. He's already tipping 205-210 and he wasn't here for Spring, an offseason in the weight room could bring a weight boom. Don't see many 220+ safeties hanging around.

Regardless of all that. It's still a long way to go and transfers and injuries happen.

At any big time program. You should carry anywhere from 8-10 quality corners and 6-8 quality safeties. Check programs like Alabama, LSU, FSU etc., and you will see that trend. The top 4-5 guys at corner will all get burn. Between some of those and the others you fill out your special teams and redshirt who needs to develop physically or mentally. At safety the top 4 guys are all going to get burn, you fill out your special teams with the 1-2 of those guys and the others and redshirt who needs it.

With all of that. You have to take into account that some guys don't pan out, Injuries and competition is created which will dictate numbers. Anywhere from 1-3 guys that I listed might not even be here when 2018 rolls around, competition will dictate what happens there.

We continue to be content with just getting by and we will fall in the same depth trap we are in at DB in 2016.

You stack when abundant. The 2017 class of DBs we bring in, they won't be the final solution. Have to land top guys in 2018 to correct the depth.

Good find. I was wondering where he came from. Wasn't sure if it was from spring or not.

Geo, You think Patterson makes it in this class? It's hard to tell because he said the staff communicated with him but I don't know if it's a Nick Roberts situation. He seems like a dynamic athlete.

And what's the deal wth Thomas Burns?
