tough call

harris - while he's not the athletic freak, he's relentless and productive
jackson - i think he's clearly not a starter, but a quality player
thomas - better year, but still not what we want . . . will competition bring the best out?
jackson - led the team in sacks . . . got better as year progressed
bethel - kicked inside maybe?

we can only start two, who you got?

Joseph Jackson starts no matter what. I'm leaning towards Demetrius Jackson for the 2nd spot provided he looks the same after his injury plagued season. Chad has a lot of work to do this offseason if he wants to start. I like trent and garvin coming off the bench.

Jojo's going to **** **** up next year. He'll be a better NFL prospect than Quan was/is.

We have a very nice mix at the DE spot along with DT. Kool bringing in some studs as well. We are finally Miami caliber on the Dline and playing like it as well.

Bethel and d Jackson can move inside

Keep dj Johnson, Chad, joe Jackson, Harris, patchan, Garvin on the outside

Yup. We all want the whole team to be humming, but if I had to pick I'd start with getting our **** together on the Dline (check) and D overall (MUCH better).

Again the same crap on D. Jackson? he is a DE, he is not strong or heavy enough to be even a third string DT. Stop the madness. After Jojo he is our best DE. Not even close. Chad should go to music full time.

SDE- Chad Thomas/ Demetrius Jackson/ Jonathan Garvin/ Scott Patchan

DT- RJ McIntosh/ Gerald Willis/ Jon Ford
DT- Kendrick Norton/ Tyreic Martin/ Elijah Conliffe

WDE- Joe Jackson/ DJ Johnson/ Trent Harris/ Pat Bethel

Keep in mind, you can practically rotate & move nearly every DL we have to either side in multiple fronts & different looks.

There's packages where we could literally have Chad, JJack, DJ & Garvin, or DJack, RJ, DJ & JJack etc, all on the field at the same time...

You can mix up the rotations however you like...

This is what Kool recruits with Lineman, he doesn't want a bunch fat slow lumbering 330lbs slobs that can only play NT... He likes fast athletic lineman that can move, get up the field & are versatile enough to play all 4 DL spots.

I thought djax was our best d end early in the year when healthy. Jackson and Jackson next year. Chad Thomas is living off his 5 star recruiting label. On the college level he's pedestrian.

Obviously JoJo has earned his seat at the table. It seemed Diaz was hinting after practice the other day that he thinks Thomas will be all-conference caliber next year. That sounds like somebody that's starting to me. D Jackson and Trent will back them up. Tough to predict how freshmen will respond and produce, regardless of talent, but we know good and well that they'll play if they prove they're better.

No he's not he leads the team in tfl and a a reason why our run defense has improved. Remember he played every game after ga tech with a broken hand

While Chad Thomas isn't the edge rushing nightmare a lot of people were hoping for, he's probably the best all around DE currently on the roster. He solid against the run and rarely runs himself out of position on draw plays. He's also a solid pass rusher. There were quite a few times this season where a QB got flushed by Chad right into the arms of another D lineman.

D Jackson looked great before getting hurt and J Jackson turned into a **** of a situational pass rush specialist.

We are wealthy there. if he can stay healthy, you will not keep Patchan off the field.

Pretty great problem to have when we're not sure who to start. Should have no droppoff when subs come in.

Our defensive lines should come at teams in waves of aggression and physicality. Loved the first half against FSU where it looked like there was an endless stream of angry Cane defensive linemen going against the noles. Not overly concerned about who starts because all of them get snaps. Whoever is giving us the most push during any particular game should get the most burn.

My first five would look like this: Jackson-McIntosh-Norton-Jackson 2nd five would look like this (Thomas/Bethel)-(Moten/Ford)-(Willis/Ford)-(Harris/Pachan).
