With Rosier under center, does anyone else see similarities between this team and the 2003 team? Championship defense, stout running game, new QB that will most likely give us some gutty wins and some remote-control-throwing moments as well.

2005 UGA with Shockley at QB is another comparison I see.

Thoughts?

As high as I am on this defense, the 2003 defense was likely better. I get your point, and think the results may play out close (perhaps not as good) because of the crap schedule, but I'm far more nervous about our QB situation than I was then. Coker was ridiculous. Had he just conceded to place Berlin in the shotgun, we likely play for another 'ship by beating Tennessee at home. We have been in self-created **** for about 15 years.

I agree that defensively we're not at 2003 levels. Maybe it's just the benefit of hindsight but I'm actually more optimistic about our QB situation this year, if only because I believe Rosier can do better than 12 TDs/17 INTs... If he can't, we're in for a long season either way.

I think we are closer to 1993 or 1994 Canes. Strong Defense, questionable at QB, talented at the skilled positions, questionable OL.

My feeling is we have better coaching that I believe can help tip the balance! Coker v. Richt is not even close. So I think we can contend with that team because of that.

Rosier will not need to throw the ball 30 times a game. If he can throw 15-25 times and we run the ball effectively we should be good. The best thing about it is he can run and create things

Why do we always have to compare a present team to some team in the past? It usually isn't fair to the past or present team and the comparisons usually end up way off.

We can only hope Malik has a moment like Brock did. I'll never forget being in the O.B. during this game.
