I just read yet another post stating we should win 10 this year. OK, so here is the schedule. I know it is way early, but predictions? Perhaps, I don't know, with any actual analysis? "We back" and "10 wins and Coastal" doesn't tell anyone ****.

Sep 3 Florida A&M
Sep 10 FAU
Sep 17 @Appalachian St.
Oct 1 Georgia Tech
Oct 8 Florida St.
Oct 15 North Carolina
Oct 20 @Virginia Tech
Oct 29 @Notre Dame
Nov 5 Pittsburgh
Nov 12 @Virginia
Nov 19 @NC State
Nov 26 Duke

Right now I see:

Wins - FAMU and FAU because they are simply inferior opponents. After that I don't see any straight roll overs. We haven't proven anything in a while. (2-0 in this category)

Should wins - App. State (but they will be good this year), UVA (some talent, new staff with something to prove, will be physically tough, but maybe not this year), PITT (at home, and I hope they are still a year away, I like us, but they will come to play), NC State (I see nothing scary), and VTech (not yet, but on the road). (4-1 in this category, I think PITT may get us).

Total question marks - GT (you never know, particularly after a bad season last year), Duke (I never count it a Cut team). (1-1 in this category)

We are probably the underdog - FSU (too soon for us, I think), UNC (until it wins something of significance, I like us, at least at home), Can't even say the name (fuskin hate them). (2-1 is best case here, 1-2 is likely, 0-3 is not out of the question).

So I think, right now, 8-9 regular season wins is arguably realistic. A bowl win could get us 10.

Gene Chizik is the DC for UNC so I think they may be legit with him calling plays. VT is always above average and the swap out of Beamer for Fuente may be similar to the Bowden Fisher swap out. We shal see.

One casino in Vegas still has Miami at over 7 games -105, I got it at over 6.5 at -135. I believe 9 games is about right.

Consistency is key this season. Especially with the young guys on the defensive side of the ball. They need to be like a McDonalds cheeseburger because a McDonalds cheeseburger is the same. Everyone buys it cause it’s consistent.

Gene chizik is average at best. RICHTS going to eat him alive. Chizik is just not that good. He costs unc that bowl game, too. Agreed about VPI, though

9 regular season wins with a shot at 10 in the bowl game. Don't see Miami winning the ACCCG especially if Clemson wins the Atlantic. What's more important to me than the wins is improvement. No more losing to bad teams like Virginia. No more getting embarrassed 58-0. Even if you lose to a good team, at least play with some heart. No giving up after a tough loss. The team gave up in 2014 after the FSU loss. That kind of crap is inexcusable. No more dead last in the nation in penalties. I understand aggressive teams get penalized but there's no excuse for the undisciplined garbage. If they show improvement in these areas, it should translate to improvement in the W/L column.

October is make or break for the season. Make it to Nov with 2 losses or less and we set ourselves up for a Coastal Championship respectable Bowl game and shot at 10+ wins

I see 6 guaranteed wins in Florida A&M, FAU, App. State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and NC State. GT and Duke should be wins but who knows. VT and NC could go either way and ND and F$U are the toughest games obviously. I see 8-9 wins. 10 is certainly possible but NC is a good team but thankfully that is a home game. VT on a Thursday could be real tough too.

Richt has too much success against GT in his career. Run blitzing and getting negative plays is how you stop that offense. That's exactly what we are going to do now. No more giving up 4-5-6 yards on every play. GT is no longer a concern for me with the style we are going to play. Even if we can't stop them, I think Richt will scheme up enough to win a shoot out.

We aren't losing vs FAU, FAMU, App St, NC State, Pitt (no real WR threats, but they get Conner back), Duke, or UVA. That is 8 wins, easy, imho.

Then the last 4 are FSU, ND, UNC, and VT. I only put VT here because they have talent on offense and Bud Foster running the D. Our record in these games is the difference of being 8-4 and 10-2 or 11-1 and being in the ACCCG or not.

I agree. Nine wins plus a victory in a decent bowl would be a good step forward. Eight wins and a win in a mediocre bowl are just as likely.

Sep 17 @Appalachian St. (w)
Oct 1 Georgia Tech (W)
Oct 8 Florida St. (W) New fsu QB and a vastly improved Canes D. We get the victory.
Oct 15 North Carolina (W) New qb too.attacking D with a staff that doesn't give auto 10yds. Plas a staff that will make adjustments
Oct 20 @Virginia Tech (W) VT rebuilding. will be better, but we're on another level now
Oct 29 @Notre Dame (L) They been stacking talent for a few years. Close, but they get us at home
Nov 5 Pittsburgh (W) They just don't have the talent
Nov 12 @Virginia (W) Just don't have the horses
Nov 19 @NC State (W) Solid team, but Canes superior talent and aggressive D wins out
Nov 26 Duke (W) They facing a far better Canes team than last couple year. No miracle necessary this year

I think a lot of people are over looking that @VT game. Blacksburg is one of the toughest places to play. It will be a short week because it's a Thursday night game and they should be coming off a bye if I'm not mistaken. Plus with Fuentes spread offense and budd fosters defense. Their offense has been what has plagued them for years. They have that young QB from central FL (forgot what his name is). Who can throw and run. I personally think that VT game is a toss up. Just my .02 cents

Dwayne Lawson from Tampa. I'd be more concerned about this game and that atmosphere if we didn't have a veteran QB.
