Rialto (Calif.) Wilmer Carter High School Class of 2016 LB Lokeni Toailoa landed a Cane offer a little over a month ago - he currently lists 18 scholarship offers.
And UM has piqued his interest.
"I've spoken to coach Jethro Franklin for a while," Toailao said. "And their linebacker coach was telling me they love the way I play, that they'd love to have some of that California talent out that way."
Toaila says distance is not a factor in his recruitment, and he said when Miami offered "That was huge - they're arguably considered Linebacker University. I've been watching the 30 for 30s, I like that. And I know Ray Lewis and those guys came out of there."
Toailoa lists no early favorites, and says what he wants in a college program is "first and foremost academics."
He plans to narrow things down this summer after taking some visits.
