This upcoming cycle will test every college coach evaluation skills. This may be the best class I have seen in some time. Not only is the class elite at the top, but it features players who may go unnoticed that I would give four stars to if they were in the 2015 class. Louisiana is loaded as usual and below are some prospects we are in the process of building a relationship with or prospects we should offer.
Nehemiah Augustus 6'0 205 SS/OLB- This kid is usually overshadowed by his Patterson teammates, Daylon Charlot and 2016 standout WR Mykel Jones. With these two studs on the team Augustus still returned kickoffs and that says a lot. He plays reckless and getting close to double digit tackles a game is nothing new to him. He currently has no offers but that should change soon. I would compare him to a bigger Elijah Daniels (whose mother was a track star) from Cardinal Gibbons. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1596586/highlights/219043375
Caleb Roddy 6'5 250 DE/DT- This kid had one of the most impressive junior season campaign. He lost 40 pounds and worked on his speed in the offseason. One trait I like about him is he bats the ball down on a regular basic and has good closing speed. He currently has two offers Arizona State and Louisiana Tech. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2620596/highlights/163729376
McDonough 35 Boys No offers- Clifford Chattman 6'5 185 S & Stephon Taylor 6'6 275 DT
Chattman- The first thing that stands out from an eye test with this safety is his height and length. He is taller than Jamel Cook but their games differ. Cook is more of a ball hawk while Chattman is more of a hitter with more fluidity and speed. Lsu has two in state Safeties higher up than Chattman with one being Cameron Lewis who is 6'2 195 and runs a 4.3.
Stephon Taylor- Plays too high at times and stands right up. His skill set is scary good though and he has good closing speed that will surprise many. Needs to work on his first step but that will come as he gets in the weight room more. 247sports just ranked both players (CC-89 ST-90). http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1554624/highlights/212525377 http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2954998/highlights/197384375
Irvin Smith 6'4 230 TE Um offer- Recently got offered by Miami and he attends the same school (Brother Martin) as 2017 standout Bruce Jordan-Swelling who is a animal. Smith has a rare combination of being a block first, but good route running TE which is rare. Miami and Tulane is his only offers. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2592745/highlights/217248387
Coney Durr 5'10 171 CB- Pound for pound one of the toughest players you will see in this state. Blistering speed and attacks the ball like a DB should. One thing I like about him is he wins with his feet at the line of scrimmage and his backpedal and break to the ball is smooth. Tested well in the Nike Sparq. Runs a high 4.3 hand time and 4.5 electronic. Currently has no offers and probably will not get recruited highly which will be a mistake. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2613737/highlights/204125397
* I brought up Drake Davis's name a couple times on this site. Since then he has been offered by FSU, Miami, Bama. His recruitment took an odd turn when he decided to give up football for soccer. I am not sure whats going on but I heard and read that he may pick up football again next year. Every major site had him ranked highly as a physical WR standing 6'4 215.
