2015 Signing Class Scouting Reports

This class is what you expect from a 6-7 program. Nothing spectacular.

Only because we are Miami, we can pluck some studs like Perry, Walton, Jaquan. Overall it is simply a poor class when you compare it to what elite programs are bringing in.

need to move Fines and Loftus to OG.

Agree with this, fines is ok with where he is at since our DTs are OG

The grades are of the talent of the players bought in vs what was needed. It's not an overall point system like what 247 etc does, and it's not an evaluation of the job the coaches did in recruiting at those positions. At QB an elite player wasn't needed. Depth at QB was needed, and bringing in a high 3* talent gets a B for me. Obviously Lawson is a better player, and would have caused that grade to be higher, but how much value to the team is added in having a great back up quarterback? Walton is a terrific player on his own, and while a 2nd RB was clearly needed, not having one doesn't ruin the talent level that is being brought in at that position.

I'm sorry, but this line of thinking is just utterly absurd. You know what makes great depth? Bringing in great players across the board and having them battle it out for playing time, which also allows you to plug in top talent if starters go down or unexpectedly struggle. Which is what top programs like Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, LSU, FSU, etc. have been doing over the past 5 years. Our coaches, meanwhile, are adding too much roster filler, or "depth" as you'd call it. It's no coincidence that our program is fading further into obscurity as our roster's blue-chip ratio continues to deteriorate.

Five-star QB Kyler Murray signed with A&M just one cycle after the Aggies brought in fellow five-star QB Kyle Allen. No one here realistically expected us to land a five-star talent after Kaaya became a True Freshman All-American, but hanging onto Lawson was not an unreasonable expectation in any way, shape, or form.

How much value to the team is added in having a great back up quarterback?

Holy s***. We all saw what Ohio State went through this season, winning two games in the inaugural CFB playoff with a third-string QB because Miller/Barrett/Jones were four- or five-star recruits that were developed properly. Asking that question just a month after OSU pulled that off makes it seem like you're not paying attention.

If Brad Kaaya goes down due to injury, we won't win a single game. And it's because of how horribly this staff has recruited QBs in 3 out of 4 years.
