2015 RB Devine Ozigbo claims he got offered by UM

Swagg, you mentioned this before and this is alarming b/c Dallas and Houston are big time hotbeds. How much of this talent drain would you attribute to kids being recruited by the suburb private schools (and given schollies, etc.), or to kids dropping out of football altogether, or just sh1tty coaching? Any chance this kind of thing happens in Miami Dade?

Private schools are non-factors over here, as they're forced to play amongst themselves and don't get to participate with the public schools* so 99% of the big-time kids have no interest in them. You get the rare few (like the OL/FB [Gresham] combo last year) who opt to play at them, but it's not AT ALL like it is in New Jersey or Cali or Louisiana or Florida. I think a lot of kids are just dropping out, never develop, or they're dying to find a way to move residences. It's a lot harder to transfer over here... possible, but kids get screwed all the time trying it and told that they can't after they're deemed to have moved for athletic reasons. (The coach of the school they LEAVE has to agree that they aren't leaving for athletic reasons, and they aren't shy about putting the kabosh on it). In one respect I like this because I hate the AAU-nature of HS sports you see in other states where spring football seems to be about who can get the best transfers and reload, but in some ways I hate it that plenty of talented kids are in situations where they play for a HS that annually goes 2-8 and no one at the school gives a **** so they either don't play or half-*** it with some jackass coach making relative pennies. Another thing is that a lot of inner-city Dallas families are moving (or have moved) out to places like Desoto and Cedar Hill, which are away from the middle of it but still in the south metroplex and mostly black suburbs. Those programs have been among the best in the state the last 10 years.

*There are some insignificant exceptions, in case someone wants to argue this on a technicality.

I say take the commit and play it safe. What could it hurt

It could force other recruits to drop us, we are already in danger with the guys golden already signed minus perry. I would only take his commitment if golden plans to take three backs or plans to cut players from next year team at the end of the season to open up spots for this class.

Who do you think UM would lose by taking Devine's commitment? I think it would light a fire under some these kids that want to play the bull#$% waiting game.

Other than Cronkrite what other RB has UM legitimately in their Top 3.

Patrick will go to the highest bidder and with his brother at Western Michigan and an uncle in Detroit, outside of UF that kid is heading out of state. Unless his brother ends up at Prep school which would allow for a package deal.

Scarlett has been poisoned by the U-School anti-Miami movement and I don't think 12 months at STA will be enough to undo the programming. But with UM staff continuing to press, he could flip to the bigger hometown team.

Williams is a UF/OSU lean, but both schools could go a different direction leavng UM there to land Williams.

Is there anyone that can comment on the quality of the competition he plays as far as texas football is concerned?

Take the commit. If he doesn't perform well during the season... Then cut em loose

Exactly and if he performs like one of the guys the staff gets on early who blows up later they look really smart

I wouldn't have a huge problem with taking the commit I just think come NSD we should have two better rbs committed than Devine. Jmo

I agree but also kids can blow up later and he can look like a stud by NSD too. e let some guys go at the end when they didnt perform so it wont be an issue this season you would have to think

Claims Asst WR Coach Derron Montgomery (https://twitter.com/Mr_D_Montgomery ??? Didn't know this guy existed, argued with my buddy who informed me of this that Miami doesn't have a coach montgomery when he told me) and Hurlie Brown offered him.

IDK about the offer but he's claiming it so I'll float it out there.

Here is Montgomery's profile from Iowa St.

Lmao, doesn't Patrick have any uncles in Florida? He's lived his whole life in Florida so he has to have a few [sarc]...... He's unofficially visited Miami, UF or FSU around 12 times so obviously he hasn't made up his mind as much as you have.

Loosen up on the tin foil hat so that you don't look so foolish. You know nothing about the kid's personal life.

FG305 rather than talk out of your ***, why don't you share your inside info that apparently you must have. Especially consdering most informed people feel that is the case with him.

Here are his top 10. Listen to howPatricks speaks about the different school placing emphasis on the ones he favors.

Hurley Brown has been on this kid for years and Patrick never mentioned him in the interview but he raved about the Mich rb coach, that says alot. But this thread should be about Ozigby not Patrick.

It's a shame about the inner city schools--I remember the year we got Jesse Armstead (Carter) and Kevin Williams (Roosevelt). Two of the best players in the country. We used to get some good players out of the Houston area.

That seem year we got Carter and Williams we also got Marty Patton, who might have been from the Houston area. Carter was state champs, and in the Texas All-Star game, the first play of the game was Armstead tackling Patton. I think Patton might have been the best RB in the state that year. Not sure.

That's an invite to an NFTC. Not the opening.

I don't even know what the difference is, I can't keep up with all these combines, camps, etc. Is the Opening better than the NFTC?

Yes.

The Opening, which will be held in July at Nike’s headquarters in Beavertown, Oregon, is regarded as the nation's premier football camp.

Players attend Nike Football Training Camps to try to earn invites to The Opening.

That Carter team was unreal! Armstead was all state since sophomore year which was unheard of at the time.

Just an FYI they were from the Dallas area. And Carter got stripped of their state title.
