2015 RB Devine Ozigbo claims he got offered by UM

Didn't Texas pass some sort of "don't pass, don't play" law years back? Is that what did in these programs?

Yes, that's a significant reason. That's also why there are a lot fewer non-qualifiers... lot of inner-city kids don't get to play HS football unless they have a shady coach fixing grades, which does happen of course, but things are significantly different, especially after a basketball coach got caught grade fixing a few years back.

Your right swagger things are significantly different in Texas Holly **** what the name of God is going down in texas. You people are now teaching the benefits of Slavery! I wouldn't perform well in school either if I had to learn that garbage and quote it on a test.

Wow that article almost made me cry and wonder what country I am living in.

Long after the United States has crumbled, Texas will still be standing. For particulars we can discuss in WEZ if you want, this isn't really a recruiting topic.

Swagger you have wonder how invested the school system is in actually educating kids in the inner city areas that were once football powers but have since faded away under the new pass to play system.

Has the academic bar been raised to an unattainable standard ( most places it is a 2.0 to play, which students get for just showing up to class and breathing practically) . Could there be insidious bureacratic intent to switch the texas high school football epicenter to the suburbs? It is pretty hard to justify these multimillion dollar stadiums if your home town burbs team gets thier *** beat regularly by inner-city have nots.

That a side I do like Ozigbo as a powerback plan C option if we miss on more than 2 ou of Kronkrite, patrick, Williams, and Scarlett.

Go Canes

For the umpteenth time...its Cronkrite

Hearing he might pull the trigger the question is if the staff will accept the commitment. I know Highseas likes this kid but I think Cronk, Scarlett, D. Williams, and others are better

The problem is that I don't see Williams coming here if UiF is a real offer and I wouldn't save a spot for Scarlett at this point...nothing he has said makes me think we have a legit shot.

Couldn't agree more. Not to mention that Ronald Jones II (listed Miami as one of his top six, for whatever that's worth) and Damien Harris (who has Miami as one of his top schools, according to Rivals' Mike Farrell) also apparently have at least some level of interest in Miami and are superior talents compared to Ozigbo, IMO.

I hope the staff doesn't accept his commitment at this time and tries to swing for the fences at RB rather than settling, which is what I think they'd be doing by having Ozigbo fill one of the two available RB slots in this cycle.

Ozigbo's only other decent BCS offers are from Iowa and Utah, so it's certainly possible that they could revisit accepting his commitment at a later date if they're unable to land two of their top targets at RB.

We have a real shot with Scarlett. Kid says a lot of stuff to the media but he's in contact with the coaches. I don't expect an imminent flip but if he flips it would be to UM from what Im hearing. Things are always fluid so we will see how the dominoes fall but we are in it for Scarlett. As you know, kids are always saying different things to different media members. Dexter Williams named a top group without UF then two week later says UF is at the top with other schools. I don't think we necessarily need to save a spot for Scarlett, but unless this staff likes this kid better than cronk, patrick, Scarlett, and d. Williams I wouldn't take him yet. Why take a lower ranked rb on your board so early? Not to mention, this kid doesn't have any in state or local (State of Oklahoma) offers despite visiting these schools. If he's visiting them they obviously know about him but they've yet to offer.

I agree Williams isn't coming here. UF top two rbs are patrick and williams

Here is an article on this kid from last summer about him being an under the radar type. He had a very interesting Top 5, not to mention he has a very mature outlook on his future in football, he reminds of Mike James, with better vision. If he wants to commit I say accept it and figure things out later.

The Best Texas High School Running Back No Knows About

Texas high school football programs are full of talented players that no one has heard about yet. Sachse's junior running back Devine Ozigbo is a relative unknown in recruiting circles, but that will not be the case for long.

Ozigbo is a 5'11", 215-pound back who has been timed in the 40 in 4.44 seconds. As a sophomore he rushed for 807 yards on 150 carries (5.3 yards per carry) with 12 touchdowns. Ozigbo added 19 catches for 222 yards three more touchdowns.

He is somewhat overshadowed on the Sachse team because he plays alongside quarterback Kent Myers and wide receiver Tyrique Edwards who are both top recruits in the 2014 class. Ozigbo may end up being the biggest recruit in the young history of the Sachse High School program.

He has attended football camps at Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Baylor. Ozigbo has spent the offseason working out with the staff of Dynasty Prime Athletes.

Ozigbo also ran track for Sachse. His ran a 10.9 in the 100 meters. He also threw the shot put 50 feet even, and long jumped 21'8." He can bench press 300 pounds, squat 450 and has power cleaned 205 pounds for reps.

His running style is similar to former Galena Park North Shore running back D'Andre "Tiki" Hardeman. There is not a lot of wasted motion, and he runs well behind his pads.

His unusual combination of speed and power make him one of the elite running backs in the 2014 class. *
Ozigbo has received a scholarship offer from Utah, and has been talking to multiple schools this summer.

"I am talking to Baylor, A&M, Duke, Michigan, Boise State and Oregon State," Ozigbo said. "My top five schools are A&M, Florida State, Alabama, Clemson and Baylor."

Ozigbo said that the toughest player he faced was in Sachse's own district.

"The best player I have faced was Charles Walker the defensive lineman from South Garland who went to Oklahoma."

Even though he is only a junior in high school, Ozigbo already has a list of what he is looking for in a college.

"I am looking for a good campus life, academics, somewhere my mom will approve of and good college football fans,' Ozigbo said..

If football does not work out then Ozigbo wants to pursue a career in coaching.

"My dream is to make it to the NFL, but if I don't make it then I either want to coach at the school I where I play in college, or be a coach at a high school around here."

Sachse went 8-2 in 2012 and lost to Mesquite in the first round of the playoffs. Ozigbo said that anything less than an undefeated season in 2013 would be a disappointment. His goals for the 2013 season are simple.

"If we do not go 10-0 then we did not play as well as we could have," Ozigbo said. "I want to have a good season. I want to play well enough to get most of my offers so I can commit before my senior year."

Ozigbo believes Sachse's toughest games in 2013 will take place in district 10-5A.

"In district, Wylie, Garland and Rowlett will be the toughest games. The Rowlett game will have a lot of hype."

Ozigbo has one unofficial visit set up for the Fall when he will travel to Syracuse on October 5th to watch them play Clemson. He plans on making a commitment during the summer of 2014.

If the kids wants to commit let him. Golden has cut Sofla kids when he didnt want them he sure as **** can cut a Texas kid.

Glory I have to ask, whats up with us not playing the game and offering archer? Would that increase our chances with scarlett?

I think we should wait on cronkrite and scarlett but also add a third back out of (Johnnie Hankins, Deltron Sands, or Trevon Sands)

NUC Texas Feature - Devine Ozigbo - Footsteps of Greatness

From Earl Campbell to Adrian Peterson, Texas has produced some of the greatest running backs of all-time.

And while Sachse star Devine Ozigbo can't be mentioned in the same breath just yet, he hopes to follow in the footsteps of those great ball carriers. Ozigbo is one of the fastest risers in the Class of 2015 and already holds multiple offers after amassing over 1,000 yards of total offense and 15 touchdowns a season ago.

While Ozigbo is keeping quiet when it comes to favorites, it's clear he has a soft spot for Miami. The Hurricanes extended a scholarship last month, and Ozigbo plans on making an unofficial visit on March 18.

"I was really excited when Miami offered me. That's a big offer," Ozigbo said. "It's a great school, and they have a lot of tradition. I know they have a great history of sending players to the NFL too. I'm really looking forward to making the visit and seeing everything."

If Miami doesn't meet his expectations, Ozigbo has two more BCS options in Iowa and Utah. Ozigbo has not yet visited either school but has done his research on the two programs and describes his interest as 'very high.'

"Iowa is a school I really like. A big reason why is because of their strong running game. They are in the Big Ten, and they love to run the football," Ozigbo said. "If I go there, I know I'll be getting the ball a lot. I talk to the coaches almost every day, and they think I could come in and really help their team.

"I really like Utah too. I really like that they are in the Pac-12. That's a great conference. I don't really know too much yet, but I know they had a good season, and they run a similar offense to the one that we run here at Sachse, so it would be a good fit."

Ozigbo also holds an offer from Tulsa and has made visits to North Texas and Oklahoma State this spring. Boise State, Syracuse and UTSA have all been showing strong interest as of late and could be the next schools to offer.

While Ozigbo says the recruiting process has been 'very fun,' he's also been hard at work in the weight room and on the field this offseason. Last year, the 5-foot-11, 215-pounder helped Sachse reach the playoffs with one of the most explosive offenses in the Dallas-area.

But this season, he believes the Mustangs can be even better.

"We had a great year last year. It was really fun because we had a great senior class," Ozigbo said. 'We're losing Kent Myers (signed with Utah State) and some others, but I still think we're going to have a great offense and team. I'm really working hard to become a leader and help the team in any way possible."

Who is the kids handler?

That only happens in South Dallas & Houston over here, he's a North Dallas kid :D

You mean Carter isnt still the bastion of academic excellence it was in the 80s and 90s?

Carter HS's school & football program is a sad situation. Falling apart. None of the innercity Dallas, Fort Worth, or Houston schools are any good - the schools fail, kids can't pass, they can't afford good coaches, and droves of talented kids just don't play anymore. Aside from lack of private schools that can recruit that's probably the biggest weakness in Texas HS football - some of our most talented areas are completely irrelevant and lots of talented kids no longer play football or are developed at all. Football is all about the suburbs now.

Swagg, you mentioned this before and this is alarming b/c Dallas and Houston are big time hotbeds. How much of this talent drain would you attribute to kids being recruited by the suburb private schools (and given schollies, etc.), or to kids dropping out of football altogether, or just sh1tty coaching? Any chance this kind of thing happens in Miami Dade?

Take the commit. If he doesn't perform well during the season... Then cut em loose

It would help but I don't think it's vital. We can get Scarlett without offering archer. I think archer is just a case of higher priorities on the LB board and they would probably want to see him again in a camp setting.
