Admiral Farragut recruiting update

It may not be an offer, but for a guy who only devoted himself to football this year, the Miami Hurricanes
provided Admiral Farragut WR Alvin Cunningham with a thrill Wednesday afternoon.

Miami, which already has a strong verbal commitment from AFA's Rayshawn Jenkins, told Cunningham
they would like him to be a preferred walk-on next fall, which guarantees him a roster spot.

"It was a pretty good call,'' said Blue Jackets coach Chris Miller, last year's Pinellas County Coach of the Year.
"They have a scholarship issue, obviously, with all the stuff that went on, but they really really want him to do
a preferred walk-on.When he heard that, he perked up.''
Cunningham, also a standout basketball player, may be an unearthed gem, a 6-foot-3, 185-pounder with good leaping ability.
He has been clocked at 4.6 in the 40, and is coming off a 13-catch, 246-yard season with three touchdowns.

"I expect him to pick up more offers once he gets that first one,'' Miller said.

Cunningham has also received interest from Illinois State along with teammate and linebacker Demetrius Lewis (6-3, 190),
and Eastern Kentucky. Miller thinks Cunningham will net a few offers from mid level schools as signing day approaches.
