2001 Week 1 at Penn State

I went to PSU & was at this game with all my PSU friends. We left at halftime bc they couldn’t take any more of the beat down. Felt great.

He should have waited til the following week to walk

We had over a 100 yards in penalties and still blew them out.

Didn’t realize that Penn State OL was anchored at left tackle by. If Gus Felder. Yup, that Gus Felder.

I think they had Cameron Wake at DE too (though he went by Derek or something back then).

I live in Central PA and my dad had taught a kid in school that was a walk on at Penn State. He told my dad "they took it easy on us, they could have buried us"

Have a guy at work that is a big PSU fan. He remembers thinking before this game how big a chance they had to embarrass us on national TV. They even had a “White Out” for the fans and brought out a guy that was paralyzed and recovered as an emotional boost before the game. To this day he can’t believe the speed we played with.

Spoiler alert for the younger fans: this game was never in doubt.

Only thing in doubt was the coin flip

I was VERY angry with Coker after this game. He totally took his foot off the gas. I knew he didn't have enough of a killer instinct.

Oh...and many channels around the country quit showing this game after halftime. Heaven forbid Penn St get boatraced on national TV.

For sure.

Sign one Coker wasn't ready for this job.

Most of you guys don't remember but in the old days game week involved a lot of the opposing team's fans coming to our boards and talking all kinds of sh*t. Penn St fans really thought they were gonna blow our doors off. I pitied them. They had no idea what they were in for.

I mean sorta. Beard dropped an easy walk-in TD and Willis fumbled on the PSU 1 yard line so we kind of robbed ourselves of 14 points right there. That brings it to 47.. And firmly in blowout territory.

Opening game for the best team in history. Canes could have put up 50 if they wanted to. No huddle version.

I was at that game. Bathed myself in all of the PSU tears for weeks.

Vilma low key was busting heads.

Those linebackers could run have to recruit linebackers who can run. High level talent is the way to get back to that

last year he was assistant strength coach with the Panthers and he has a Player engagement job.

guess it didn’t take Panthers long to realize he should be kept away from the strength program.
