2 Q's: 1 for "Slurpers" 1 for "Mopes"

For "Mopes": What would have to happen the rest of this season for you to support Golden moving forward for the near future?

Him to quit the job and spend the rest of the season fighting a potentially fatal illness.

Is their really still a "Slurper" left?

Oh, and to answer OPs question...There is nothing AG can do the rest of the season. We have almost a 40 game sample size. He cannot coach.

As with any season, I want to see the games. You can win lots of games and still not be a great coach (COKER). I want to see this team thrive, not succeed inspite of the coaches..... I want to see creativity with in the offense... not trotting three OL/TE and Gus in on 3rd and 1... Wonder what we are going to do there...... Or Corners at 8 yrds out on third and 5... Or the LBs at ten yard deep, with a 3 yard crossing route that turns into ten yards before anyone is within range for a tackle..... Considering none of that will happen, I guess there isn't much he can do at this point. No matter what I want a new OC/DC/OL/DL

Mope of all Mopes. Speculate all you want but he isn't going anywhere. He has a contract through 2019 and the quicker we accept the fact that we are stuck with this non qualified used car salesman the easier it will be on everyone. Pretty safe to say that a lot of us wish we had the job security Al does and he flat out sucks at his job. Clearly nothing took place from a University leadership standpoint as Al hasn't changed a bit from last year nor has his staff. If anything its gotten worse and the man feels no heat as he is labeled a savior to UM suits for sticking with us when he could of bailed. You can bet your *** that Al is playing that card as hard as anything. That's the real problem and root of the issue.

don't disagree with the basic premise of your analysis... but would take issue with the second part:

1) You bet your *** he's feeling the heat-- it may not be hot/high enuf for him to be worrying about his finances or whether he can make his mortgage payment, etc., but with the public shaming that is building and the brutal critiques from all angles, make no mistake he hears it, knows it, and it's keeping him up at night. NO ONE wants to look bad or be called out to this degree-- in the public eye--or otherwise.

2) Many seem to think his "staying with us" when the **** hit the fan somehow incoculates him from any scrutiny within the administration. I have a much different opinion. You only hold a gun to someone's head ONCE. And when you assert your leverage (rightly so in his case at the time) don't think the parties involved "liked" having that gun at their temple (pardon pun). A savior sticks with you regardless, Fat Albert parlayed our admin's "less than forecoming" approach into a ridiculously lucrative extension--one that's got us by the short & curlies. So nobody in the Hecht is genuflecting at this guy given the results on the field. Publicly, sure they'll say ALL the right things. But they know they got taken, and have only themselves to blame. Doesn't mean they like it. Nor him.

Appreciate a different angle and solid post. Agree that Al feels heat from the fans, but does he really care what we think? Clearly he has it all figured out and hasn't changed a thing from last year. (McCord and T. Harris are awesome nickelbacks). Donna, Blake and Board is the only heat that matters to Al and can not say with confidence that he has any from them whatsoever. Your second point is legit but do you think that UM's admin is thinking on the same page as you?

At this point I just want anyone to win the Coastal at Miami. If Al can't do, get someone who can. If he does it, fine. But man, there is no reason to think that this will happen with him here.

For "Slurpers": What would have to happen the rest of this season for you to support an immediate coaching change?

For "Mopes": What would have to happen the rest of this season for you to support Golden moving forward for the near future?

If you feel more neutral or unsure, you can give an either or answer.

Q1 The team must quit on the staff, & openly show clear disdain for their coaches to the point that they no longer care whether the team wins or loses. 5 - 7

Q2 The coaching staff must

A. Show that they are capable of adjusting to the players strengths while displaying some creativity + aggression.

B. The team must bond & grow up together into a cohessive machine willing to go above & beyond in the persuit of Victory.

C. Never F*cking Play Down to your opponents.

D. 10+ W's & Fight tooth & nail to win the Conf. Championship Game.

Here is what I want.

I would like us to finally get it together, win most of our games, win the Coastal, and play in the ACCCG. Have a solid recruiting class, and hopefully Kaaya will be ready to go and look a lot better next year.

If we DONT improve, and keep looking like sh*t, Golden will be fired. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Either way, I will root for and support the team and players. Im not going to sit there and cheer for guys like Denzel Perryman to go out of here a loser, after that kid chose to come back here as a Senior.

I support the team, not any coach. If AG cant get it done, then he needs to GTFO, and he will. Just like Coker and Shannon were shown the door.

If Golden parked his car in his garage and fell asleep with the engine running after slaughtering Dorito, Shalala and their entire families, I would support him. Outside of that, **** him and **** you.

I for one think this is a fantastic thread/question/debate/etc.

My "Golden Stock" is way down at the moment. It has been since the VT game last year. That being said, I wouldn't necessarily NEED a miracle (winning out or an Orange Bowl berth) to somewhat believe again. I would need to see multiple things, though, to convince me he could succeed. If this team simply won out, or won 10 of the next 11, even, but looked the exact same doing it, it wouldn't change my opinion at all. But on that same note, if Miami only won 8 or 9 games, but looked like a better team and showed real improvement, I could see giving him another year. I don't think it's too much to ask to field a competitive football team. We all want a National Championship, but at the end of the day, a team that didn't roll over and die because our opponent has a ranking next to their name would be a huge start.

Oh so there are only "slurpers" and "mopes"?

I fully expect Miami to be 2-1 going into Nebraska, and a good showing up there will keep me optimistic for an 8 win season.

One game at a time. Next judgement day is in Lincoln. This board is irrelevant it's the fringe of Canes Nation. The people that matter probably think like I do. I have no idea if there evaluation of the coach is like mine. He does everything you'd want in coach other than produce good results on the field. My biggest concern is not Xs and Os, it's about relating to his players. The message isn't getting through, these guys know more than enough about football to win. So to keep him as the coach, I need to see him hold the team together and show improved results on the field. That all starts in Lincoln. Barring a .500 or below record, he probably get's another win assuming everything else is stable. I guarantee this staff understands they are at a tipping point. That can go either way, players respond or they don't.

Your honor, this sentence right here is the problem with some of our fanbase.

God bless America.

Ohh so you had visions dancing around in your head of a true freshman QB behind a depth depleted OL winning 11 games?

That's your fault, bud.

No, I had visions of a coaching staff in it's FOURTH FULL YEAR having us back on the right track.

You settling for mediocrity is your fault, bud. Go root for another team, or drink bleach. Whichever feels better.

Would have to win 9 games with a win over Florida State. I realize we have a freshman at QB so I don't expect him to win out...but at the same times makes it crazy to call for an FSU win :)

LOL settling for mediocrity? Try tempering expectations with a mediocre defense and a true freshman QB.

This clown had Miami penciled in for a national title. "Durrrr 4th year, national title, root for another team drink bleach".

Some of our mongoloid, mouth breathing fans are just embarrassing.
