1996 Carquest Bowl

In the middle of my junior year of college; just transferred up to U of Florida for final two years—getting over my Gators hatred by covering the Canes at Grassy.com.

Of course #3 Florida won their first title that year—beating #1 Florida State in a Sugar Bowl rematch from a regular season game the Noles won.

Matters made worse by my brother being an football equipment manager at Arizona State that season, getting to know dudes on the team through him (when I'd visit)—Jake Plummer, Pat Tillman, Ricky Boyer, J.R. Redmond, etc.

Was pulling for #2 Arizona State to beat #4 Ohio State—sideline at the Rose Bowl. Sun Devils would've been national champs and undefeated (beat #1 Nebraska, 19-0 in regular season)—but Joe Germaine torched their young corners on that final drive; hitting freshman David Boston for the game winner, 20-17.

Rolled back in Gainesville a few days later and had to deal with Gator pukes celebrating. Brutal, brutal season.

I was at my uncle's house (Gator) watching that game and openly rooting for ASU.

I was at that Sugar Bowl. Sat along the aisle and accidentally knocked a beer out of a UF fans hands as he made his way down the stairs. I just looked at him like oh well, and he kept it moving.

Rice Krispies is top 5. Cocoa Krispies is better than Cookie Crisp and Cocoa Puffs or any other chocolate cereal.

I completely forgot that ASU would have been National Champs if they beat OSU (depending on FSU loss). Yeah, that one hurt. I remember watching that game on TV against Nebraska. ASU had this linebacker/defensive end #59, last name Rogers. He was everywhere and completely dominated Nebraska. I wasn't expecting that outcome for sure.

Agree with everything except Lucky Charms. And the only thing that I don't like about Frosted Flakes is you have to eat it within a certain amount of time or it gets soggy.

I remember this game and I was pretty excited for the upcoming season.
I then remember watching us beat Baylor in Baylor to start ‘97, And I’m pretty sure that was the day Pricess Di died. .

then 5-7 happened.
Again I was so dumb back then.

Was watching for LA.. hoping the canes were bouncing back ... little did we know of the tortuous times ahead... and the era of glory we lived through would never come back
