That team fielded a special teams that allowed 2 total net yards in punt returns the entire year.

One of the most impressive stats ever.

This play somes the Old school canes. Today we would try a bubble screen, rather than a Fade route.

Probably one of the best DLs in the history of college football: Russ Maryland, Greg Mark, Willis Peguese, Cortez Kennedy, Jimmie Jones, Shane Curry...who am I missing?

Irony.... That team lost to fsu that yr they won the whole thing...

I think our starting QB was out for that game with a hand injury. Probably would've beat them if Craig Erickson had played.

No think about it....Erickson was out....and gino started and played like ****....i take nothing away from that team....just sucks that was the team that beat us

Gino was a freshman making his first college start on the road at FSU in '89.

That 1989 team did win my alltime favorite UM game against notre dame. Greatest Canes game ever IMO. I'll NEVER forget the energy and the overall scene in the OB that night. It was unlike any sporting event Ive ever attended.

Nope. If we had to lose a game on the way to an NC, it is great that it was criminoles. They couldn't win the frigging NC even WHEN they managed to beat us. It only adds to their wall of tears. Just another hot poker up their rears.

Took me a second, but I got it.

Have to agree with SFBay on this one. The ND game in 1989 was the most electric atmosphere of any sporting even I have ever attended. ND had no shot to win that game.
