Actually, we got robbed for a bunch of national championships over the years. People talk about Saban, like he has accomplished so much. Yet we did it institutionally, under a bunch of different coaches, not one. We did not need a saviour.

Also, we did it without the level of cheating that goes on with a number of the truly southern schools. No megachurches providing the funding, no networks of good ol' boys who escape scrutiny because they are not on the staff of the university, no cheating on transcripts (I'm calling out FSU under Bobbah here....beloved, departed Bobbah).....

If we cheated, it was small potatoes. Probably not even enough to make a difference.

running backs caught a lot of passes. Cleveland Gary picked up right were Bratton and Highsmith left off.

I’ll never ever get over that 88 ND loss. That loss still stings. I’ve never rewatched that game. Never will

Sven, quick question, did you agree with the decision to go for 2 at the end. I always thought that getting out of their with tie was like a win based on the circumstances. But hey, Jimmy plays to win. I can respect that.

That whole era gets a bad rap, yeah, some stuff happened, boys will be boys. But I know most of those guys got their degrees and did some great things with their lives far beyond the game of football.
 
IIRC, this game was originally scheduled for mid-October, but CBS wanted this game specifically to open up their college football season because of the nature of that 87 thriller, which was considered the game of the year

Also, FSU was #1 coming in

Nobody made for better theater than UM back then. They truly were sports and entertainment at it's finest

I liked the 2pt call. Play for the win and thats jimmys personality and that was the teams DNA.

interestingly enough, if we tie the game I wonder if we get a rematch with ND in the title game, given the hate that was/is had for Miami
