I was also there. What a game to have seen. I saw so many legendary games in the 80s in that stadium, considering we had season tickets for the Canes and Dolphins.....I started going in 1981. First ever game was the Miller 50+ yard field goal to beat the Gator. Year after, got to go to the Mud Bowl AFC Championship game against the Jets.

Even if Miami football eventually takes a turn towards contention again, none of what happened in the 80s will be replicated. The game's too different now.

That AFC Championship game was the last game I attended in the OB. Froze my *** off. AJ Duhe singlehandedly won that game. Moved away in Nov of ‘83 and had to watch our first Cane NC win on TV.

28-3, on opening night, to the gator.

Imagine how many times Howard would have been fired on this board that night.
Howard’s resume and experience ***** on Diaz’s up to that point. Also, Miami had absolutely no brand and showed signs of life defeating big programs like Penn State. Clearly, not apples to apples..

But carry on..

Remember watching that my SR year of HS. Growing up in Oklahoma with OU **** being forced upon me, I admired the Huskers. Phenomenal game. Left that game with a new admiration for the Canes. Then when JJ came over from OSU that sealed the deal for me.
