People on here dont really believe in the redshirt theory, but I hope seeing the play of Clive Walford has changed some views. Having him as a 5th year senior has REALLY helped his draft stock and helped Kaaya.
What is the redshirt theory?
The whole line of thinking that, "Whats the point of redshirting? they are going to leave after 3 years anyway if they are good enough?"...Alot of players need that redshirt..We are going to look back at handling of Trayone Gray and be sorry we didnt give him one. Totally a waste of a year for him.
Running back is the least likely of the positions for that to come back to haunt you. If Gray is a guy we're really gonna want 4 years from now then he actually would be in the NFL with a year of service already. A redshirt year isn't changing that. Being productive as a redshirt sophomore as opposed to a true junior gets you drafted all the same.
