Figured why comment on games we should’ve won, right? No need to talk about BCU or CMU; those were supposed to be cupcakes.

I mentioned after the UNC game that what will happen is we’ll smoke FCS BCU, we’ll smoke G5 CMU, and everyone will start feeling good about the program. The problem was, we didn’t smoke CMU....they **** near won that game. That game should’ve been a warning sign. However, being the faithful fans we are, we were all anxious to see how we would do when we got back to ACC play; were we a bad team or were we simply underestimating an inferior opponent? Welp, we got our answer this week. Let’s hop to it:

1. Give Perry all dues. Bad int on that goal line sequence early in the 2nd, and he had some ?able decisions that he was bailed out of, but he played his heart out!! He almost had another FSU part II moment. Salute, but he’s still not the answer. VT bailed him out w/ a couple roughing the passer penalties.

2. Manny, excuse me, Shanny is in over his head. Shanny is such an appropriate nickname b/c he had Shannon moments, namely, just looking confused and non engaged. He didn’t fight for that 1 sec on the clock at the end of the game; he just simply held his one finger and that was it. That passion & fire he was supposedly going to bring is not there.

3. Will someone pls cover Dalton Keene??!! Wtf, Blake (more on him). How in tf do they run the same plays & the def completely loses track of him each time?!

4. Our def.....wow! Our def has given up a game winning drive to inferior teams in back to back ACC games. We made a kid who made his 1st start look like a poor man’s Vince Young. Blake Baker has been an absolute Achille’s Heel, and Shaq (his position coach) has looked even worst this yr! The DL is not getting home at all, so between him & Stroud, idkwtf is going!

5. The OL......I can’t fault all of the sacks on them; we still have these long developing plays, but my goodness they were again manhandled! Another 6 sacks, not including 2 others that were negated by penalties. And here some thought they improved. **** poor effort again. If Reed couldn’t beat out Zion, then either help our recruiting or coaching. This chit needs to change.

6. How do a team that’s ranked 128th in TO margin just beat us 5-0 in the TO game??

7. Missed tackle after missed tackle, that’s been an uneasy staple of this defense lately! So much for the “Big Cane Drill” a watered down version of The Oklahoma Drill to instill toughness.

8. Can we stop the “we’re young” excuse? I’m so glad ESPN put up that graphic as far as youngest teams in FBS. Did u notice we weren’t listed? You know who was listed, however? That’s right, the same team that beat us today....matter of fact they are thee youngest in FBS! I told ya’ll after today’s game, no excuses, right? 1st time starting QB, going against the youngest team in FBS, all while at home. No. More. Excuses. Slurpers.

9. Whenever a coach comes to town on the hot seat, should we just automatically count that as a L? We love extinguishing the flames for coaches on hot seats, don’t we?

10. We are now 0-2 after bye weeks. I’m not sure when the last time that’s happened.

11. If this was the result of our best week of practice, then God help this program.

12. This team, as a whole, is off. Again, kudos for coming back, but there’s no way this game should’ve been in this predicament. We’ve become paper champs, and that’s b/c we’re coached by a paper coach and ran by a paper AD.

I highlighted a troubling stat when comparing FSU v. Miami since 2010. We were 48-44 against P5 opponents. Now we’re 48-45. We’re **** near a .500 football team against P5 teams, NO MATTER the talent level we face.

Never hire a coach from a failed regime; history is now repeating itself from Shannon to Manny.

Agree with it all but the 48-45 stat against power 5 teams in the last almost 10 years is the most reality inducing thing I've read in a while.

When I went through Shannon’s last yr until now, I couldn’t believe that stat myself. No cap, I immediately got nauseous. I had no idea.

SPOILER ALERT: The Miami Hurricanes 2019 Season ends with a 4-8 record.

There! Nobody should be shocked as we move through October and November and lose a ****-ton of games. I'm not telling you to be mad about it; just don't be surprised.

Also, can someone confirm this is the Running Back depth chart?
RB1 - DeeJay Dallas
RB2 - Cam'Ron Harris
RB3 - Jimmy Murphy
RB4 - Lorenzo Lingard

OP good job, Gonna be long have to blow off steam somehow...

How about 13) Your record is your talent and how it is coached. Better talent makes better plays - we saw a game yesterday where #4 played the way he should have all last season and this, according to most on here. That Richt got stuck with the QB options he did last year, starting a guy he told would never, or that we had to flush the Transfer portal, shows we're missing on recruiting.

This first occurred to me in 2006 when the 7-6 Canes got in that fight against FIU with some helmet swinging. The team was out of control and that spoke to discipline. Which speaks to coaching and players recruited. Those '06 players were playing on the reputation and false bravado of the NC teams. Many have been since.

Miami has been overrating the talent of S Florida for most of the last 15 years because the model worked so well when they had the exclusive. The program pitches to them to stay home - heck, its easier to recruit S FL than hitting the road driving or flying all over the place to watch others; you get to go home to the wife or GF at night.

But what we end up with is often the bottom of the barrel, after its been cherry-picked by Top 10 programs. Then throw in the de-commits. Because who wants to play in a weak conference that the team recruiting you, who you've watched all your life, has never won? They may not know your Power 5 stat, but they know that.

In the 70s and 80s Belle Glade and Pahoke were the hot spots for recruiting (They produced the most NFL talent than anywhere in the country for a while) - I played college ball with a half dozen guys from there in the 70s: the kids that ran down the rabbits in the Cane fields 35 years before ESPN showed it (or Miami kids rather than Glades kids, stole the staring rolls in the Nike commercial).

That was in the era before high school free agency, where it was easier to judge a player on his own merit than teams where transfers create an All-Star team that blows out the have-nots and pads stats. You could watch how the kid responded in more intense game situations over a season. Thats when Miami locked it up. Before Schimano and other coaches started holding clinics in Miami. I watch high school football every Friday night in SW Florida, we've had teams from Miami come over that we (Charlotte, a competitive program) roll. Charlotte beat Booker T and were the first West Coast team to beat St Thomas. Three years ago, that All-star Carol City team with Cam Harris came over and thumped us in the State Semi-final game - their O-Line averaged bigger than mine in college and they had footwork like ballerinas. Point is there's talent spots all over in Florida that get overlooked (The SEC grabbed one of our backs). And I'm not saying they don't get over here, just they don't look as hard in this and other areas, or in other states. I watched kickers and punters every week that would have been better than last year's.

We're still using a recruiting model relying on former reputation that doesn't take into account a change in toughness of the kids, or program desirability. We haven't been able to win a weak conference with it for a long time. Just because it worked once, doesn't mean it works forever.

It was a bad throw by Perry at the goal line, but why we didn't run the **** ball down there at least a couple times is what put us in the position to throw that obvious pass. Perry impressed me yesterday.

And yes, Manny Shannon. He is all of our bad hires rolled into one.

And those PA passes when there's no threat of running. Seriously? Just stupid.

Mentioned it in another thread, but why we don't see Miller, Nesta, GR and Garvin on the field at the same time more is just odd. Or even Hill over Garvin. Miller, Nesta, and GR need FAR more playing time.

I thought Banda said if you can’t tackle you can’t play....

This **** is legit sad.... Like there's no way I can even try to force myself to support anybody on our staff. I knew we wasn't a "great" team coming into the season but I really thought Manny would have us looking at least better than how Richt had us looking. Boy was I wrong. This is on par with the Golden yrs. We're just wasting these kids talents.

I think this is definitely a big part of the problem. We lose out on the absolute elite kids every year - the ones that go on to be All Pros that we used to get - and have to sift through the rest, hoping our evaluations are on point. Added into this is that the transfer culture in SoFl means that you're often getting front runners - which shows up on the field as our players quit so often when the chips are down it's untrue.

Even now, it's only the out of state guys that you can rely on to keep trucking when adversity hits - Dallas, Jordan etc.

We're in a horrendous position as a programme now as Diaz clearly isn't the guy so we're just marking time until Blake James hires the next failure.

I'm a big fake NFL Draft scout guy. Honestly, who on this team would you want to play for your professional team? There's maybe 5 guys that I think are potentially good enough - we're simply not that talented any more.
