#11 in total defense....what do I make of this?

If we attack on D like we have the past couple weeks we'll have a winning combo but I will never believe Dorito changed it.

November 15th will be the defining chapter in Golden's tenure in Coral Gables. I think this game is literally his job. Anything less than a win, and the noise will not be able to be ignored.

Beat FSU.

me has me doubts bout dat. Even if AG loses to FSU or it's a battle - and wins out otherwise - they'll keep him. What I'm really afraid of is that he'll get an extension for that minimal accomplishment.

he is already extended until forever..i don't think we have to worry about another extension this year.

There's no accounting for dumb moves.

6-3...thats what you make of it...

we all know the D had to get better...
then we will lose Perryman, chick a few other..than we lose Dorsett and duke and some Olineman..so depth is a HUGE issue next year..we will lose our TWO BEST players next year...

Been saying it all year we will be worse next season.

There is a DIRECT correlation between rushing offense and total defense. People on here seem to still jerk off over shotgun spread air raid, but the teams that run the ball and control the clock have always and will always have the best defenses.

But I digress....

I agree with that correlation. Running the football cleanses the defense and often allows it to play above its true level. I was emphasizing that on Las Vegas radio beginning in 1988. Dolphin fans were screaming at Tom Olivadotti while ignoring that the Dolphins stopped running the football at San Diego deep in the 1984 season and never bothered to return throughout the Marino era. That regulated the defense. The numbers were comical, like 8 rushes at San Diego in the 1994 playoffs despite leading by large margin throughout the game.

Georgia Tech's current defense is awful but they help camouflage it via so many rushing attempts. It's the opposite with Mike Leach. He handcuffs his defense with that idiotic approach on offense. Last season he actually had many talented defenders but the unit as a whole was lousy since he's running the ball fewer than 20 times per game.

geis its really simple.
The defense has improved because the players are more talented and experienced and are deeper than in years past.
Talented and more experienced players execute at a higher and more consistent level than players that aren't. Having depth helps players stay fresh which in turn helps them execute better than tired players do.
Talented and more experienced players also make it easier for a coach to open up more of his play book.

It's great to be a Miami Hurricane.

Disagree. Kaaya in his second yr along with Yearby/Gus and one of the incoming frosh RBs will give us a very solid backfield. Our WRs will be Coley, Waters, Malcolm and Berrios, also a very solid group. And our O-Line will be better even without Feliciano as most of them are underclassmen. Defense will suffer without Perryman and Chick's leadership but we have more depth now than we did 3 yrs ago. We get Clemson and Neb at home, FSU without Jameis, VT and GT at home.

We should whoop *** next year.

We'll have the best QB in the conference.
Best returning Receiving Core
Dobard will be a man at TE.
Unfortunately for Flowers, he'll be back next year and that will make the best O-Line in the conference.

Flowers-Gall-Linder-Isadora-Darling/McDermott

Defense should improve as well. Losing Denzel is the only true downgrade and Grace will become one of the best backers in the conference.

Artie, Tracy, Crawford, Corn, Jam, Bush, Jenkins, D. Crawford should form one of the best Defensive Backfields in the country.

Chad, Courtel, and Kamalu should be excellent up front and we got AQM, Trent Harris, and Reek rushin the passer.

I think we should keep our coaches if they win the rest of the games and allow exactly zero points thruout.

I admit I expected UNC to beat us because I have zero confidence in staff. I was on a cruise so watched on small screen, but something seemed different about the defense. It sure seemed much more aggressive downfield than we have seen. If we attack Rapist and put helmets on him every play and the offense continues run the ball well then we certainly beat the criminoles. BUT staff scares me to death, so no Koolaide for me this year. I would love for Duke to get his win against the Noles to go with his gator win. Oh, how great would it be for DP to give Cook a little "Hello sucker" for his own Vanover moment before he goes to NFL. Win will save Golden's job beyond a doubt, but beating noles, breaking their little winning streak, and returning their trailer trash fans to regular nightmares would be worth it.

Shows me we are a good enough defense to not play scared against any opponent.. No passive defense and u get those results.. Let's keep playing d like we have faith in our talent defense and have some balls

This.

Golden and D'Onfrio have fixed the defense so we have nothing to complain about there.

The problem is exactly what you stated. Out three losses have come from Golden playing passive and scared as if he has sunbelt conference level talent and not future NFL roster players.
