I didn't include Fla A&M for obvious reasons. So every team has played worse against Miami yardage wise than they have all year on average. The differences now is Miami's offense is clicking a great amount instead of going 3 and out 3 times a quarter. The turnovers have also decreased a tremendous amount. And on the defensive side we've amped up the pressure and matched personnel more recently than ever before under the staff. We had backups in on both sides of the ball against Cinci when we went up 41-13. A lot of their yards went against 2nd teamers. The starters held UNC to under 100 yards and 0 points until the backups started getting a considerable amount of snaps. I wish the pressure and personnel matching had been their all year. We wouldn't have gotten ran out of Nebraska more than likey. If we also had been playing with the adjusted alignments all year and aggression we probably could have stopped GT a few more times than we did. That is all the past though and I am glad things have changed for the better a great amount. If they continue this way, then why wouldn't we want Golden to stay?

I can look at the altered alignments, disguised blitzes, new stunts, delayed blitzed, increased pressure, quicker reactions, more hits behind the LOS, more sacks, and increased pressed coverage and tell a difference though.

1. Not definitive. I do know if he lost to FSU it would be his 4th straight loss to them. I do know if he lost to FSU AT BEST we would finish 5-3 in the ACC. I don't know how much support he is going to get finishing at 8-4 (5-3) but not the point. If he loses to FSU, not sure how much support he is going to have.

2. This game is a HUGE game. One of the biggest for Al Golden. Let's review:

a. This game is at home,

b. This game is coming after an off week, and

c. Winning this game would he a first for Al Golden.

Now all the slurpers are selling a turn around, I'm saying great, beat a team that matters. Beat your rival. You have 2 weeks to prepare. FSU is a darn good team but losing 4 straight times....let me repeat...4 straight times....let me repeat....4 straight times would prove the "turn around" is more of a reach around (thank you). If he loses the season is further proof that AL is a failure and not the guy. Winning this game and winning out will show me we "turned the corner."

3. No duh. Well coached, develop their talent and they WIN GAMES.

4. VT is terrible. Sorry, they suck. They lost again last week and might have their first losing season since 1992. Congrats we beat Duke, we're awesome now. Duke's best win was against GT after that Elon (FCS and 1-8), Kansas (2-6), Tulane (2-6), Troy (1-8), UVA (4-5) and Pitt (4-5). So to review, 1 BCS team with a winning record and 6 other wins against teams with losing records.

5. UNC has a decent to pretty good offense. It was good to see our D perform well. The D played darn good D.

BUT BUT BUT

When we played a better O (Nebraska) we were a typical ALbortion. Then we played GT and it was a train wreck. Now if we beat FSU and the D looks good, perhaps things have actually changed.

6. Is irrelevant and stupid. Al needs to win games regardless if the fans show up. Al needs to beat FSU and win out. Al needs to actually improve in the ACC. Al needs to actually win the coastal. Al needs to actually beat FSU.

I hate to break it to you. This is a message board. It is a place to discuss the canes. Get used to it.

This is Golden's biggest game. If he doesn't realize it, keep flying the banner.

Nothing outside of a win will help. Not a "close one," "hard fought battle," or "gutsy performance." A win. A plain old-fashioned dog fight win.

It's time Al. Jimbo's been owning that *** for a while....lets see how you finally respond. I sure hope you do, for The U's sake, and these players.
 
Bottom line the changes are not enough. The improvement will serve to get Donofrio a few interviews, but he must go and the scheme needs to change. This is Miami we should have Top 10 defenses EVERY YEAR! Look at Wisconsin the are #5 and have pitched two shut outs this year already, with Top 50 ranked recruiting talent.

This is miami **** it an we have standards for defensive play. An the players wouldn't freelance if they weren't forced to play in a anti-intuitive defensive scheme. They are buying in now out of pure necessity, you have NFL pro scouts questioning what Golden is doing with his scheme. Where as you have NFL coaches picking the brain of the Wisconsin Def Coor, hmmm what a difference., but hopefully Golden will hire this guy and UM will playing in the Playoffs next year as a direct result.

FSU just put up 40 on the road at Louisville against a top 5 defense in the country. It's silly to expect the defense to shut them down. Holding Fsu to 30 or less would be a good game for the defense.

Not infatuated, he is just the best right now at doing more with less. I was one of the first to jump up and about Shannon bringing in Bill Young to run his aggresive 3-4 scheme an we see how the players responded to that, we led the nation in tackles for loss and become a fierce unit. The same would be the case with hiring Dave Aranda. When Bill Young came in even the offensive players were excited, I remember offensive players being confused at practice as to where the blitzs were coming from, how the defenders were coming so free all the time.

So notsince1985 rather than talking crap out sideways out of your mouth, watch a Wisconsin game then imagine what Aranda could do with UM's current roster let alone the talent available in south Florida. An he runs a 3-4 defense so the transition would quick an seamless thus allowing UM to be a Top 10 team next year.

We all want UM winning championships again and that starts on defense.

We dont count these rankings if they show anything good we only bring these up when they are bad... Thats the motto of this board

I think it's pretty simple, if they play well vs FSU and gives UM a chance to win, it is indicative of real improvement

If not, well, it's as Ben Franklin once said,"There are lies, **** lies and statistics''( or something to that effect)

Looking at those numbers after watching the games I'd say things are better looking than they were. Aside from the Gag tek game the numbers looked like what I saw on the field.

I guess the best way to explain things is, "The situation is fluid".

Honestly I've loved what I've seen (sans special teams) recently.
 
If we can run it and keep Fsu off the field we can have a chance. I don't expect a win though.
