The reality is that there are very few good defenses any more in CFB.
This is so correct. Dominant D? Maybe MSU and Florida. We ain't close be being a shutdown group, but that's a rare animal.

It's all about fsu. Keep pointing to stats, and I'll keep pointing to our record and our performance against teams with a pulse. This year, were 0-2 against teams with a pulse and 6-1 against complete dog ****.
It's year 4, and we're playing a shaky fsu team that has been on the verge of losing 4 times to mediocre teams this year. We got them at home and with an extra week to prepare. I don't want to hear any sissy **** about keeping it close. Beat them now, or continue to suck dyck against any good opponents.
Four years in, and if you can't beat this fsu team, you will have proven absolutely nothing other than you can beat a horrible team like UNC more handily than you have in the past. If that's good enough for you, then you're a ******.
It's step up time. Step up, or you've still done nothing.
Unc was supposed to do it to us. Now they may not be a great team, but their offense wasn't terrible. We put it on them, and now it's "they're terrible" three days before it was "unc is going to rack up 500+ and 40 points" .. at the very least, mope consistently.

Aint gonn alie N Carolina was #19 in total offense...... but on the real we played more press coverage against N Carolina then we have in 2 years.... We shouldve did this against Louisville and also against nebraska and blitz our safety's

Plenty, if not majority of the blame lies on the players against Nebraska.
I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the amount of times we had guys playing outside of their responsibility.
Can't count how many times Tyriq McCord and Anthony Chickillo got washed down into the line as the play went directly into their gap.
The Nebraska is the game that cost Dallas Crawford his safety spot as he was absolutely clueless as to where he was supposed to be filling.
Some of the old alignment issues crept up, with guys playing in no mans land on a couple plays, but the responsibility was largely on the players shoulders and that's why they were saying what they said in the week leading up to Duke.

Meh...what happened what we gave up a big bomb in the 1st qtr...and we went conservative
1. Golden will be at UM coaching the Canes in 2015 win or lose FSU.
2. Is this a big game? Yes. It's not the defining make it or break it for Golden.
3. FSU is **** good. They are undefeated for a reason.
4. So now the teams we have beaten are no good? Weeks ago, just about everyone on this site gave no shot of us beating Duke and VT.
5. UNC has a **** good offense. One that put 40 plus on ND. Now the offense sucks after we played them. Hmm...
6. People need to stop complaining and just show up to the **** games! Bunch of Sunday morning QB's we have on this site.
7. Praise the team. They are playing their butts off.
8. Two more home games for Duke. Come out and enjoy the young man. Special to watch and cheer.
9. Coach D is not going anywhere.
10. Go and vote Tuesday.

Didn't "give up" a bomb. It was a completely busted coverage by Dallas Crawford, who completely neglected his Deep 3rd responsibility.
Why be aggressive with a safety who has no idea what in the **** he's doing?
That just means you're running really really fast to absolutely nowhere.

You maybe right.... but you must admit we played conservative against the run... Donofrio even said after the game why didnt we bring up our safety's and he said we didnt want to give up the pass..... DOnt make me show you the screen shots. QB threw like 15 times and our safetys were 20 yards back on 3rd and 4

I've watched the defense in that game about 3 or 4 times and the safeties had little to nothing to do with why we couldn't stop the run. Their first drive in the 2nd half, we had at least 1 safety in the box until they crossed mid-field. Then they kept the safeties back and kept the base defense on the field, but they STILL couldn't stop the run because guys were undisciplined and had their eyes in the backfield.
Here is some info for you all.
Season Average--Against Miami
UL 356-----------------336
Ark St 457.6----------329
Nebraska 497.2-------456
Duke 401.3-------------264
GT 469.5----------------371
Cinci 465.9-------------422
VT 367.9---------------262
NC 420.8--------------258
I didn't include Fla A&M for obvious reasons. So every team has played worse against Miami yardage wise than they have all year on average. The differences now is Miami's offense is clicking a great amount instead of going 3 and out 3 times a quarter. The turnovers have also decreased a tremendous amount. And on the defensive side we've amped up the pressure and matched personnel more recently than ever before under the staff. We had backups in on both sides of the ball against Cinci when we went up 41-13. A lot of their yards went against 2nd teamers. The starters held UNC to under 100 yards and 0 points until the backups started getting a considerable amount of snaps. I wish the pressure and personnel matching had been their all year. We wouldn't have gotten ran out of Nebraska more than likey. If we also had been playing with the adjusted alignments all year and aggression we probably could have stopped GT a few more times than we did. That is all the past though and I am glad things have changed for the better a great amount. If they continue this way, then why wouldn't we want Golden to stay?
