This was best case scenario. Richt made zero changes to the offensive side of the ball despite (publicly perceived) rumblings from the board. Making changes would've bought him another year on top of next year. Richt's assuring everything will be fine. When he fails with his offense in year 4, he has no excuses and he can be outright fired.
