10th coaching assistant

With the word being that the 10th assistant vacancy is Patke's job to lose, what exactly does he even have to do between now and NSD? He's apparently an LB coaching assistant, but Joyner signed before this apparent promotion and we're not adding anyone else at that spot this year.

Does he just have to get one out-of-state pipe dream like Coburn to take a free trip? With the state of our defensive recruiting and the possibility of whiffing on the Heritage corners, that's the lowest bar imaginable for Patke to prove any semblance of worth as a permanent staff addition.

He probably comes cheap.

If Patke is the 10th coach, that would be a total missed opportunity by Richt.

Bama hired Pete Golding, was DC at UTEP & Southern Miss
Oh St hired Alex Grinch, was DC at Wash St for 3 years
TAMU hired Jerry Montgomery, was a DL coach with the Green Bay Packers & before that was DL coach with Oklahoma
Michigan hired Ed Warinner, was OL coach for Oh St from 2012-16 & was OL Coach at Minnesota last year, was also Charlie Weiss's OL coach at ND & Kansas, over 20 years experience
Texas hired Herb Hand, was OL coach at Auburn, Penn St & West Va 20+ years experience
Penn St hired David Corley, was WR's coach at Army & before that RB's coach at UCONN for 3 years
Auburn hired Marcus Woodson, was CB's coach at Memphis for 2 years & CB's coach at Fresno St for 2 years before that

There's several more, but the point is clear. Just about every major program in P5 Football used this 10th field position to upgrade the Coaching side of things & brought in well versed coaches with legitimate experience elsewhere.

Not tryna bash Patke but he needs to cut his teeth somewhere else for a few years before we elevate him to a 10th coaching spot.

Don't even try to tell me **** about his supposed "crootin" I'm not hearing it. Richt needs to stop being so **** stubborn, there's a **** ton of coaches out there available & just settling for Patke is a short sighted move on his part.

I support Richt 100% & think he's a great Coach, but that doesn't mean that everything he does is perfect & is beyond accountability. If every single major program is hiring legit coaches for this new 10th assistant there's no reason he's not seizing this opportunity to add someone that's more than just a QC guy.

We need an experienced coach that can bring their own wisdom to the practice field & meeting rooms for that 10th spot.

When are you going to write a book on how to organize and run a college football program?
