Sure Patke isn’t a **** hire for #10. But he has been with Diaz for the last 5-6 years at every stop. And has the DC’s respect. Patke is efficient, detail oriented, and looks like he can recruit. Not saying I love the hire. But I understand it. Unless you fire a guy on staff you can’t bring in a name 10th coach. And on D is where the need is and has been ever since Golden. We haven’t had a great recruiter on the D side of the ball. But you can’t bring in a top name guy unless you fire someone now on staff. Cause no top flight guy is going to accept an OLB coaching gig. So Patke will do for now. But, I agree Rumph is on the clock. He needs two things this year. Make the CB room a team strength and sign THE TOP 2 CB in the 2019 South Florida class. PERIOD. If that doesn’t happen, here is an option... one of the very best recruiters in the Nation:

LOL Rumph is NOT on the clock, lol

I think part of the issue some people have is that he is a Diaz guy. A lot of angst on this board about how the defense fared against any offense with a pulse

I still see some people assume Richt is working with this huge budget to hire anyone he likes. I trust given the budget he has and the likelihood he needs to keep some money available to give raises to those he wants to keep, this was the best hire he could make for what he thinks he needs.

we do not have an unlimited budget but we have come to the table lately with Dugans & Kool
I would have liked to contacted Barrow or Partridge(ace Recruiter S.Fla)
Patke has energy and will serve us well on recruiting trial

I'm not going to kill Diaz yet, I don't fault him for his heavy zone reliance last year. our depth at corner back necessitated it. now that he has more depth at cb, his performance can now be scrutinized

You’re username is a bigger fail.

Barrow could've definitely came in to coached all LB's...he was the LB coach for a trash 3-4 Golden defense and his LB's still looked good despite being put in bad positions by the DC.
Barrow is not only the LB’s coach in Seattle but he’s the AHC as well. He’s not leaving the NFL.

Yea these guys just think ex Canes are leaving any job to come home to coach.Normally at a big pay cut..lmao

barrow is no longer with seattle

I know he was fired but the point still stands. They don’t make guys AHC’s for no reason and he wasn’t fired because he did a bad job but because Norton Jr. (the new DC) coaches LB’s so there’s no use in keeping him. He’s going to land another NFL gig and he knows it so why go to college and make less?

right.same as john lilly. he will want to stay in nfl

John Lilly hasn’t help develop multiple LB’s like Bobby Wagner and KJ Wright to the point that they’re both All pro selections and one of the best coached units in the NFL. If anything they should’ve brought Lilly on to help with recruiting on defense.

my point was once they get a taste of NFL, they tend to want to stay. Same as i use to tell everyone about Chud.
