Brian Kelly is right there worth a hundo. He's won as much as you could at every stop he's been.
Barring this man killing some more humans or covering up some rapes or trying to fvck some BoT wives he's winning a national title at LSU.

I know football is a *huge* revenue generator, and that goes especially for the blueblood programs (Texas, OK) and the SEC schools. But it's funny that LSU is constantly teetering on the edge of bankruptcy even despite that, and they have some of the most rabid fans I've ever encountered. Just by way of example, having known people who went to the school, there has been unrepaired water damage and mold in the library for years (to the point that most don't, or can't, even use it). But a couple of years ago they spent a bunch of money on a lazy river pool in the shape of "LSU" (this was a little bit before their big funding crisis...go figure). It's Louisiana so probably a good 50% of every dollar made or spent in that state goes to fund its pervasive and deep rooted graft, sure. But they're kind of the last school that should be dropping 10m/year on a football coach who's ceiling was getting absolutely wiped out in every big post-season game he got to.
Besides, those swamp people will buy tickets and travel anywhere in the country no matter what...what else do they have to do?

Lincoln Riley gets hated on because people really don’t like offensive minded HC’s, everybody loves the hard nosed grind it out run the ball play stout defense tough guy coaches lol...
But Riley is 55-10 in 5 years as a HC with 4 Big XII titles & has never lost more than 2 games in a season.
Obviously, Oklahoma was the machine that Bob Stoops built, but he did a good job maintaining it at optimum level.
He also developed 3 Heisman finalists & 2 winners, has produced a ton of NFL players.
Yeah he’s 0-3 thus far in the CFP, but the fact he’s been to playoffs in his first 5 years as a HC speaks volumes about his upward trajectory.
Both Saban & Dabo didn’t win their first National title till their 8th year as HC’s.

I completely agree.
Reality is that there's no Jimmy Johnson or Nick Saban candidate out there at the moment. And those candidates seem more and more rare each year. That's why the market place is overpaying for the top guys on the market right now. For UM, Mario, while being a highly flawed coach will bring a good understanding how to run a high level program and most importantly, Mario is best suited to garner the needed support behind the scenes. Too many high level guys will have their own reputations associated with Mario's hiring for that not to be the case.
At least that's the way it appears from the outside looking in.

Coaching matters; I’ve seen some of the greats win chit b/c they had sucky coaches, and the same exact team gets a new coach & voila, winning happens. It’s an investment. Every coach is not going to win a Nat’l Championship, but in collegiate sports, if u’re constantly in discussion, vying for a CFP spot, winning ur conference, big bowl game invites, etc. that exposure creates more revenue & attracts recruits.

Id add Jimbo and Kelly to the list. I know Jimbo hasn't quite turned TAMU around yet, but its coming. Kirby is also crushing it at UGA so far. If you want to measure in terms of value brought to the school, Kirby has to be in the conversation.

I can’t add Kirby to the list, because he’s operating a cheat code.
I think you could replace him with a dozen or so coaches & still get the same results.
UGA as a program due to their spending & recruiting basically runs itself.
Mark Richt only had one losing season in 14 years as HC there, they’ve been winning since the Jim Donnan era.
Jumbo’s a great recruiter, average coach IMO. His National title came right before the Playoff era when it was still BCS, as soon as FSU made the CFP they get shellacked in a historic beat down by Mark Helfrich & Oregon, since then he’s been a guaranteed 4 losses a year type coach.
He’ll always recruit well, but the CFP era has exposed that his formula isn’t built for real championships, he’s the last BCS era champion & it fits with his profile as a coach. Can’t adapt to the new era.

No, Saban created the model that Kirby follows, but it can’t be denied that Saban is a great coach.
If Kirby was coaching at another program & not UGA, he’d look like Sark.
He’s arguably the most overrated coach in CFB IMO, but everyone drools over him because UGA has bought a great team. They’re not really well coached, they’re just better than everyone they play because they have an overwhelming talent advantage.
He’s a rich man’s Will Muschamp IMO, he lucked into a great HC gig because of his history as a UGA player but I don’t think he could win at most other programs.
Not a popular opinon I know, but I’m sorry, I’m just not a believer in Kirby, he’s having a great season with UGA no doubt, but I don’t think he’s a great coach at all...

$10M is nothing, guys. And it's really only $6M more than Manny. Not when it's measured against how much more revenue we create when we're winning.

Increased student apps, which makes you more selective, which draws better professors, and research grants, which creates a beautiful cycle. Forget the better Nike/Adidas/etc deal. Forget that you end up in prime time. Forget it all.
Just look at game day revenue. If we draw 10k more fans per game, x 7 home games, that's 70k more bodies a year buying a ticket, food, parking, etc etc. At $100pp all-in, that's $7M just right there.
Miami starts to win 10-11+ games a year and it's probably worth another $50M+ to the U as a whole. But some of the benefits won't be quantifiable.

I've said multiple times over it's Mario's agents responsibility to get his client the best deal possible.... which means getting whatever he can make Miami pay for him..... I'm sure Mario will have some kind of hometown favor involved but he's not gonna cut himself short...

Having said that, you’re worth what someone is willing to pay you. So whether you want to use arcane clichés like “the invisible hand“ or just plain old free market capitalism, they are going to get paid what they’re worth simply because that’s the deal they could and will get.
Part of Mario‘s worth is he has seen how the sausage is made in Alabama. Maybe he swiped the recipe for the secret sauce. Lane is one **** of an offensive coach. I’ll be happy with either, or maybe there’s somebody else out there that might even be a better fit.
