1 Running Play

In my humble opinion Martinez is a disappointment. He has verypoor vision as a RB. Where was Ajay Allen last night? Was he in the doghouse or our dummy OC just did not use him. I thought we missed an opportunity there to spark the team because he is electric like wJordan Lyle. As far as Martinez is concerned I would give him less and less snaps.
Non of the other backs of done anything outside of garbage time

Well I need to change that. 4.3 isn’t bad but it’s average. We need to be running right off the back of francis
I get it our rush offense isn't great. But it isn't putrid. It certain can get better and be more dynamic. It seems as if we have one run play.

Formation wise are we diverse? I don’t rewatch games so for those that do can see if we predominantly run out of bunch/tight formations? Also seems we always run motion into the line on runs. High probability of me just thinking they is the case.

All I know is all of our centers for the last 5-6-7 yrs all must be using hemorrhoid medicine the day after the game cause their a-hole must be killing them from our RB’s running dead up their *** with every running play.

Crazy, I just used this same joke in another thread before seeing your post, lol. Just goes to illustrate how blatantly unimaginative our running game has been

Why do we seem to run the same play over and over and over again. Martinez gets 1-2 yards. Same as last year. Only difference is Cam saves us. Where are the pitches, options, etc...Maddening.
Slowly working towards perfection before expanding the playbook. Wouldn’t mind borrowing the VT pitch play to get one of speed backs outside.

1. I think some of the criticisms of our running game is valid but I also feel that alot of fans fail to recognize the identity of this team. We are a PASS first Air Raid w/ a Power run game to wear teams down into the 4Q... and why should we try to be anything else with Cam Ward, M6rtinez & 4letcher as your backfield?

2. I also feel that alot of ppl fail to recognize just how big of a loss that C Matt Lee & G Javion Cohen were to this line. Those guys were both 5-6 year Seniors. Not to mention our 5th year Junior OT Jalen Rivers hasnt played since game 1.

3. Even with the OL losses OC Carpenter, LG McCoy & OT Bell have been doing a good enough job. The announcers mentioned that we have the #1 third down offense in the country and i can't remember a time that we had a critical 3rd & short run and didn't get the first down. What more could you want?

4. I think there's a thin line between patience & procrastination and #6 has toed that line at times. However i won't complain about it because as stated previously he never gets stopped behind the line and always gets a good 3-4yds from each run. He's a true Power Back, not a homerun threat. Give him a break, He's also learning a new offensive system as well.

5. We have homerun threats in 21, 24 & 28 that have been used as such at the right times. We are in for the long-haul here for at least 14-17 games, we gotta keep them on pitch counts & spare guys legs for the entire season.

Biggest run in Hurricane history was designed to go inside. Lyle bounces it outside and house call. Martinez looks asleep when he plays, no juice. He does run hard though.

Semper Canes!!!

I just hope to see more outside runs
it goes against what Mario believes in in terms of running. he believes in hat on hat running over your man in front of you. we run that way and we dont get any push in the inside run game. everything is hard for us in the run game. we only run well when were up 40 late in the game when everyone gave up. couldn't run on FAMU, Ball, UF, USF, or now VT

I guarantee if we get Martinez on the edge and into the second level against these LB’s and corners, the tune would change dramatically amongst this fanbase…

That goes for all RB’s. We have to diversify the running game. I feel like I’m having deja vu with Lashlee (excellent OC but tendency to have a vanilla inside run game).

Running between the tackles does nothing for any of our backs, especially when the run blocking hasn’t been good per advanced metrics. No push up front. We have to at least try to get outside. Think of Fletcher’s TD run against UF, Martinez trucking the UF defender, Lyle bouncing outside vs. USF….its right there in front of you. Change it up.
This **** part is, we're good at running to the edge lmao

The optimist in me says they haven’t opened up the rest of the playbook and are saving an elite run game for later in the season
they were down 10 in the fourth and they went back to passing which is what only works for us consistently. this is the playbook by and large. theyre Never saving anything besides trick plays

I will say this, Martinez look like he came out in the second half with a little more juice. I can’t be sure, but it seemed more like an effort thing. Or maybe intent to get upfield. Not sure what to make of that.

But it was something I noticed, regardless of playcalling.

Criminal to not use our speed on the edge.

agreed. its also obvious what the play is gonna be when 24 is in the backfield. need to start getting creative back there bc this run game without rivers get zero push and isnt a good run blocking line
