1 Running Play

I guarantee if we get Martinez on the edge and into the second level against these LB’s and corners, the tune would change dramatically amongst this fanbase…

That goes for all RB’s. We have to diversify the running game. I feel like I’m having deja vu with Lashlee (excellent OC but tendency to have a vanilla inside run game).

Running between the tackles does nothing for any of our backs, especially when the run blocking hasn’t been good per advanced metrics. No push up front. We have to at least try to get outside. Think of Fletcher’s TD run against UF, Martinez trucking the UF defender, Lyle bouncing outside vs. USF….its right there in front of you. Change it up.

Why do we seem to run the same play over and over and over again. Martinez gets 1-2 yards. Same as last year. Only difference is Cam saves us. Where are the pitches, options, etc...Maddening.

No idea but to those fans who cling to the notion that we’re still a vanilla running offense bc coaches have only used 25% of the playbook or whatever, don’t fall for that. Our offense is what it is and the running game isn’t going to change. There may be some plays here and there that will be new but overall, this is our offense

In my humble opinion Martinez is a disappointment. He has verypoor vision as a RB. Where was Ajay Allen last night? Was he in the doghouse or our dummy OC just did not use him. I thought we missed an opportunity there to spark the team because he is electric like wJordan Lyle. As far as Martinez is concerned I would give him less and less snaps.

He plays with patience but I haven’t really seen him run with juice

We run like 4 run plays. Split zone, power, duo, and inside zone. You may see some counter but not much. We also run tight splits up front which leads to a lot of clog if your not knocking guys off the ball which then leads to our backs dancing looking for holes. My opinion widening splits create more space and implement some more creative blocking schemes. But our HC is a former OL and his bff is the OL coach so…

All I know is all of our centers for the last 5-6-7 yrs all must be using hemorrhoid medicine the day after the game cause their a-hole must be killing them from our RB’s running dead up their *** with every running play.

I’ve been asking this forever “ do we have any other running play except the one where the RB runs straight up the centers butt ?”.

I’ll go ahead and ( PAUSE ) my “whole” post ….no pun intended.

But **** man run something else…jeez

Agree but all the Martinez lovers are going to come post Mark’s stats on 6 carries and yell “what’s the difference?!”

Dawson has no clue how to incorporate more than 3 run designs into his play book.

He’s been like this since day one. It literally depends solely on the OL and RB making **** happen. He does nothing to help them.

The run game is Mario run game, Dawson is tasked with marrying that with his pass game. I forgot who broke it down but the run percentages matched what we did the year prior to Dawson than what Dawson was doing at Houston..

Even if we are running the same, predictable run play, we have to start running more consistently in the first half.

So more reverses if you need to, but the better teams know that our run game ain't it and they are now getting to Cam. We have to run the ball more.

I don’t mind the running game cause you need to run the ball but it’s like Cam going to the line telling the defense where we are going to run it…

Difference is Cam doesn’t need to tell them cause any DC that’s watched 30 seconds of our offense already knows where we’re running.
