We're on the road against a pretty good team. We used to never win in Raleigh but we won our last two games there. NCST is 11-5 (2-3). They're 3-2 in their last 5 games and their 2 conference wins came against @ WF (1-4) and ND (1-4). NCST is 9-1 at home this year. NCST has a good offense and they have 5 guys who on average score in double digits. They score 78.4 PPG (43rd), allow 70.6 PPG (217th) and grab 37.1 RPG (172nd). They're NOT a good 3PT shooting team at 33.0% (189th); none of this seems to matter as teams have much better days against us.

SOS: 55th

Notable Wins: None

Notable Losses: @ Clemson [They lost by 11] and @ VT [They lost by 14]

Players to Watch: Although they have five guys who can score in double digits, I want to focus on their guards and they can all rebound:

CJ Bryce (6'5 Senior): 16.1 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 2.2 APG and 1.8 SPG
Markell Johnson (6'1 Senior): 13.3 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 7.0 APG and 1.8 SPG
Devon Daniels (6'5 Junior): 10.9 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.3 APG and 1.6 SPG

Spread: TBD

We should probably play a lot of 2/3 zone against them.

Game prediction:

Miami 78
NC State 69

Once you get pass Duke, Louisville and Florida State, all the other ACC teams are even.
Miami proves to be the best of the rest with one of many wins against middle of the "Pack" teams in the ACC.
GO CANES.

Thank you for posting this information. Your team breakdown information is some of the best work I read on this site and on any media source.

I know its just halftime, but Im getting some joy in the surprising Duke vs Clemson, Louisville vs Pittsburgh scores. Yes, the underdogs are well ahead at the break. Crazy season in some ways for ACC.

upd: Pitt Louisville tied and into OT, while Clemson slim lead with a minute to go. Love my remote control.
upd2: Clemson beats Duke! (Carey oh for 3 in final minute Yessir!!) (both teams under 50% FT shooting, lol.)
upd3: Louisville squeaks it out with MUCH inept ref help in final 30 seconds, Boo!

A week or two ago, I was trying to tell people that we had a shot in this game, while the "life sucks" crowd was telling me how we were only going to win 4 or 5 games in the ACC.

Not predicting a victory, per se, but this is a game that we could steal (for now) and that might not even count as a "quality win" by the end of the season.

We shall see.

Call people out. Tell them how you feel. If we can get this win on the road, it looks like it would be a "quality win".

------------------------

If we can hit our 3s, I think we have a good chance.

Here is our performance in our last 4 games:

Pitt: 6-24 (25%) [We scored 66 Points]
UL: 8-31 (25.8%) [We scored 58 Points] - DJ 2/11 from 3PT
Duke: 2-12 (16.7%) [We scored 62 Points]
Clemson: 8-25 (32%) [We scored 73 Points]

None of those are good 3PT shooting performances for a team that shoots the 3PT so much. For the season we're 35.8% (76th).

-----------------------

One other thing to consider is NCST doesn't have a single dominant scoring big man. They have great production from their 3 big men who play the most minutes. They combine for 29.8 PPG. Hopefully Sam is well rested.

Perhaps you missed the thread where I was standing up for both the men's and women's basketball teams, while idiots called them "mediocre" and "mid-pack" and every other moronic term simply because neither team has advanced very far in the NCAA tournament.

Bold prediction: I think Chris Lykes and DJ get into foul trouble against NC State but Harlond Beverly and Isaiah Wong take a huge step in their development and help Miami get the win.

I always felt that January would be the month when the light bulb turns on for all three of the freshman. Walker will hit his stride soon.

I don’t read every post on this site. I was only pointing out that you should call them out, those porsters, on here too.

It's all good. I have been going to UM basketball games since the Knight Center/Bill Foster days. I want to win every game every time, but I'm also tired of people (incorrectly) calling us mediocre.

It isn't because of the post-season record so much as -- with the exception of a couple good Leonard Hamilton teams back around the Millenium, and the VERY good Larkin-Kadji-McKinney teams earler in the 2010s decade -- for the rest of the 35 years since 1985, we HAVE been mediocre, mid-pack, or worse.

At the same time, you can look at programs like Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Butler, Wichita State, and many others who are perennial NCAAT participants and rightly ask, "If they can do it, why can't we?"

Thank you. That is my exact feeling. I think Miami is on the verge of being a consistent top ten basketball team if the current coaching staff would make a few minor changes to their approach.

I want Coach L to do for basketball what Coach Schnellenberger did for football. There is really no excuse why Miami should not be a top 25 team in every sport.

A simple fix is using all 13 scholarships. I am tired of going to gunfights with no bullets. I don't want to hear about the FBI investigation anymore, most of those 18 losses from last season were due to a lack of talent and players on the roster.
