“Miami survives scare “

This was Miami’s scariest moment of the 2nd half. 98% win probability. By ESPN’s own metrics. Good stuff.
Here's a different version but the story is the same. At least the headlines now are "takes down VT on the road, or Beck 4 TDs carry Miami..." Hard to blame the intern who wrote the copy when the announcer was putting so much angst into the eye test in the 2nd half. Plus, the 10 minutes of the Franklin interview during game time, wtf put that **** on during the halftime.

100%?

Not 90 or even 99%?

No other factors like interceptions, drops or horrible, borderline criminal officiating contributed even 1%?
Mario has lost 2 games he shouldn’t have lost every year he’s been the HC at Oregon and Miami.

Do you see Oregon, since Lanning took over, aside from year one, he hasn’t lost more than 2 games in a season. In year one, one of those three loses was to Georgia in game #1 as a head coach.

See below in case you forgot about how Oregon has fared under Mario:

As so many people have stated on these forums, Mario is good for 2 loses on his own every year. Facts are facts.

Happy he’s turning our program around compared to how it has been the last 20 years but for our sake, let’s hope he stops getting in his own way on game days. Everyone can dissect or see when it’s happening. The patterns during a course of a game are clear as day. We can all speak Mario now if his coaching were a foreign language.

Pitt beating Ga Tech makes that a lot more murky.

Cal is our main hope - they need to beat SMU
I don’t think that accurate. We still lose the tie breaker to SMU, right.

I thought we are all rooting for VTech to upset UVA and Wake to beat Duke.

How does SMU losing help us? I am a so confused, lol.

Shout out to the morons at the ACC for creating a scenario for UVA to back in to the ACCCG.

Their loss to NC State doesn't count against them.

Eliminate them, and you have a win and you're in scenario.

Mentioned this a few times, and some posters thought it was a good idea for the conference to allow it.

Not surprised.
I somehow missed that their loss against NC State doesn’t count. In what world are we living in?

SMU only has 1 conference loss. Miami has 2. SMU losing, thus giving them 2 losses, helps us.

If they win, they finish 7-1 in the league, and clinch a spot in Charlotte.

Same as UVA, that's why they have the "cleanest" paths. Both of them only have 1 league loss, they are the only teams in that boat. So both are just "win and in". We need at least one, preferably both, to lose. Because if they don't, we can't catch them.

I’ve said before and said it in the game thread if Mario doesn’t go all Mario in the second half of the ND game and continues to attack like we were doing when we were up by 21 we would have won by 30+ and none of this conversation about us and Notre Dump wouldn’t be happening. But Mario doing Mario and letting them close the score to look like a close game the same as he did against the Noles is what leaves this open even a little bit for discussion ,other than losing to two teams we should have beat bloody and had no business losing too.
Refs orchestrated the comeback for ND. Same **** you saw Saturday and against UF and FSU and SMU.

I dunno… he could kill two birds w 1 stone. Maybe don’t insist on making your OL, who specializes in false starts, sit in their stances for 20 seconds while the you run the clock down at the start of the second half.

Ok, but SMU losing, they still have the head to head tie breaker against us so how does them losing help us?

The ESPN programming is clear across all broadcasts. Word was sent out. Nobody employed by that **** company is allowed to advocate for Miami. They got ******* Marcus Freeman commercials blasting, the ticker is downplaying Miami’s win, and every booth is saying Miami is on the outside looking in.
All this is true but we did ourselves no favors with that performance on Saturday. I am beyond frustrated with us, right now. Can’t give these ******** a reason to ***** us yet we make it easy for these clowns.

If it were just SMU versus us, it wouldn't. But when you put multiple teams with 2 losses together, other tiebreakers come into play. For example, GT is done in the ACC, and they finished 6-2. Duke only has 2 losses. So if SMU loses, to finish 6-2, and we win, to finish 6-2, it's not just Miami vs SMU. It's Miami vs SMU vs Duke vs GT, and there are tiebreakers in scenarios like that where we'd win.

Bottom line, we need SMU or UVA to lose, amongst a couple other things but let's just focus there. If those teams win, we can't catch them. So they have to lose. If they both win (and they're both favored by 10 points), Charlotte is out.

Another lazy and annoying *** talking point is “well FSU beat Bama so by your logic they should be ranked higher than Bama, right?!”

I can’t even bring myself to dignify it with a response. But people really think this is a good point.
