“It really looks like Miami was unprepared for any of this”

I’ve been saying this all year. I didn’t waste my time watching the game.
I’m waiting on to see who gets fired. It needs to happen fast. Starting with Blake!
Me neither I played Warzone during the game, just kept checking the GameDay thread, after each of my 100 deaths....lol.

Opposing coaches must lick their chops when going against mia. Because they all come out completely different than the week before and our coaches say we'll they didn't pass much or they showed us something we didn't prepare for

Direct quote from Hassleback after the third first quarter TD from OSU.

the performance of the defense was just unacceptable.

Heard that too. I think after the first series you could see they were expecting us to key on stopping the run. We should have adjusted sooner than we did.

Every team does this.

The offense works on the final game plan together and the defensive staff does the same. The head coach sits in with both units. They will all meet together beforehand to see what each side is seeing as the offensive coaches sometimes come up with ideas to help the defense and visa versa.
exactly my point. It isn't ALL Baker's plan. He may call plays - which has also been questioned lately- but it's a group effort. They clearly all decided they were going to defend the run.

It also seems like when they make these adjustments, they always say they went back to their "base defense". Why not start that way???

To be frank, I thought OSU would do just that, run. I had them winning 38 to 24 I believe, by running all over us. Just didn't know it would be after a catch. Makes total sense with our two best pass rushers out to throw the ball as their QB should be comfortable back there.

Oddly enough, I think having those two guys out helped our run defense as we weren't really getting up the field with our ends.

You can give some credit to the defense in the 3rd quarter but after they went up 21-0 Gundy started running the ball for no reason. They could’ve scored 35 in the first half, if he would’ve stayed with the no huddle quick hitters. He did us a huge favor.

Knowing Miami was dwn its two best Rushends and what our CB depth and play had been..I would’ve came doing the same. You can’t coach ballers. Bakers firing should have no bearing on this game..all about Unc for me

I took Okie State hoping our D would show up. Good one. Never bet with your heart.

It's his defense but baker calls it way different. The only game I remember us playing as much zone with many was against clemson in the ACC championship. There can be calls in the playbook but baker uses zone with less aggression than manny did
Manny is on the headset and can veto any call baker makes. Anything that makes it to the field has gotten Mannys tacit approval.

Yes but the difference between what he called as defensive coordinator and what baker calls is different. It's so obvious. Maybe they're doing it to try and hide our deficiencies at cb and lb. I'm not sure why they play soft zone until we're so far behind we have to get aggressive but they play better most of the time when were attacking the offense. We did it tonight we did it at n.c st we did it at VA tech. The difference is huge

First quarter I was pointing out presnap who would get the ball thrown to them based on formation. There were slot guys-80 in particular that were lining up with 12 yard cushions.
Is that the kid that had 1 catch all season and looked like he could give Devonta Smith a run for the Heisman?

Manny also inherited better talent than what they have now. LB and CB are a disaster, and that makes it difficult to play call and easy to plow thru a D. Also.. after 5 years, teams figure shlt out.
