“Idle Teams Can Move”

Texas can’t move higher than us. They have an extra loss and we crushed the team that delivered their worst loss.
You nailed your op post. I think we backed the committee into a corner with our win over Pitt.

I will add that we now have common opponents with #9, #10, #11 and #13.

If BYU loses, I think we get in.

Here’s the thing…I tend to agree, we’re probably done.

BUT we technically still have life.

So at least publicly, this is precisely the WRONG time to let it go and give up.

If there’s a small chance and we’re getting closer—which we are—then you go all in. Tell me WHY TF NOT?!

I don’t hear no fat lady.

Sure it’s easier to let go so you don’t take yet another kick to the nuts. But we’re right there.

Let’s pour it on as heavy as possible and see what happens. We have all offseason to get over it if we don’t make it. This is NOT the week to start.

Hopefully just building drama. Remove the names and look at the records and the the head-to-head, the tie breaker historically has always been the head to head results. There is no BCS formula in place like 2000.

The problem is if both Bama and BYU lose, then Bama is the buffer team between us and ND

They just moved the goalposts and I have no expectation that Miami can't get in unless Bama and BYU both get beat bad

Originally ND and Miami not compared H2H because they weren't in the same pod.... Now not compared H2H because they're not ranked next to each other.

If we take this idiot at his word (we shouldn't). We need BYU to lose (drop behind us)
Alabama to win (stay or move up)
That puts us at 11 and ND at 10

Most likely...
Alabama loses and drops to 10
ND moves up to 9
BYU loses moves down to 12+
Miami at 11 (bama sits between us and ND and H2H is a non factor)

Sunday they'll officially ***** Miami and there's nothing anybody can do about it.

Bama, OU, ND will be in and Miami will be out that's all that was laid out tonight. They are simply trying to buy time and run out the clock

Far fewer headaches to lie and suggest "there's a chance" than to be honest and confirm "it's not happening" and deal with a week of outraged fans, media scrutiny and government inquiries.

There's no official weekly update leading up to the announcement of the March Madness brackets. Just speculation from the pundits.

These in-season CFP rankings updates are just 30-minute Made-for-TV products created and paid for by ESPN.

Won't be surprised at all when the CFP powers-to-be tell their biggest media partner we're not doing these shows anymore. It's not worth the headache.

People can wait til selection day like they do in baskeball and other sports.

Just think about how dumb this argument is fellas. There is 1 team, again 1 team now between Notre Dame & Miami. You are going to tell me H2H is not or cannot be used currently between the two teams?

The committee chair said 2 weeks ago that H2H wasn't being used between the two since they were not in the same "comparative pool". Whether "pool" referenced 3 or 4 teams, we were either in that same pool as Notre Dame last week, if not most certainly this week. So why not move us ahead this week?

They would have had less egg on there face doing it this week, as Miami stomped Pitt, now had 3 of 4 more decisive wins against common opponents and closed within 1-2 spots on every major metric (giving both teams almost identical resumes). But instead, they are going to jump us over Notre Dame IF we end up 10/11 when neither team played?

I just don't see how they are going to do that. BYU is a non factor. They always needed to beat TT to get in. So dropping them to 12 would have had no consequences. I believe the opposite that many of you do, and I believe they are doing everything to keep us out. I mean again, "comparative pool" has supposedly now become teams having to be ranked side by side? No, it was never that, they just keep moving the goalposts.

Fair, but you can still use this excuse, as moronic as it is, if there is a buffer between two teams.

You cannot if one team is 10 and the other is 11. The team who won on the field MUST be ranked higher.

I don't buy it. Again, two weeks ago the committee chair specifically said we had to be in the same "comparative pool" as ND for H2H to be utilized. Well, we are undoubedtly in that same pool now. So what happened? ND stayed ahead of us AND the committe chair now changed it from being in the same "comparative pool" to being ranked side by side would make it easier to factor in H2H. Goalposts drastically moved.

In addition, he spoke of Notre Dames 10 game win streak, there combined margin of victories during that streak and there offense being great as to reasons why ND stayed ahead of Miami. None of which are listed as top deciding factors listed on there own website which are;

1. SOS
2. H2H
3. Common Opponent

Well, SOS is 42 to 44 in favor of ND but still identical. Yet 2 and 3 Miami wins. Why are these not being used/cited? I mean, the answer seems pretty clear to me. They want them in and us out. They keep moving the goalposts and they will again this week IMO if BYU loses and BAMA wins, which we need.
