“Decided Schematic Advantage” Alabama

I won't argue that coaching is important. The bozos we had here previously would have lost 3 games with Alabama's players. However, that 2014 team was super top heavy. Yes there were seven guys drafted but there were probably 30 guys on the roster who had no business suiting up in a Miami uniform. Not excusing the pathetic record, just saying that team wasn't exactly loaded top to bottom.
Compared to some of the teams they lost to they were loaded.

The 'decided schematic advantage' is pretty much just signal stealing. You know that right?

Put it this way: everything the New England Patriots have gotten heat for, Bama does it better, without the salary cap.

The Saban plantation is mostly reliant on blue chip recruiting plus an army of support staff. What do you think is the job of said 'support staff?'

A lot of truth in above post.

First of all, for Christ’s sake, another Alabama suckoff thread. Now that that’s out of the way.

But since it’s here, just big picture it for a second, like grownups that stop and think things through.

It’s all about the unlimited $ war chest Alabama has.

Which gets them a support staff that’s triple or quadruple of what Miami has, and double of most SEC teams, with UGA trying to catch up. Anything from recruiting, to film breakdown, to backroom coaching, to picking up the coaches and the player’s drycleaning - it’s all taken care of for you.

Unlimited coaching budget to replace assistants, money is never an impediment to getting who they want. Ever.

Unlimited recruiting budget to get their targets. Their unlimited funds gets them 5 stars in the 3 deep. Their second and third stringers would probably be ranked a top 20 team, or higher.

Alabama will get knocked off their *** when a team with more heart, soul, ****, vinegar, and swagger bloodies their nose and shows them that it takes more than mani/pedis and deep tissue massages in a bubbly whirlpool to make you a badass football player.

You don’t have to surpass their talent, that’s almost impossible, you just have to come close and then kick them in the nuts in a street fight.

At the end of the day, they’re hired field hands that are there not because they love Alabama football, but because they’re front runners going with the hot team that’s their ticket to the NFL.

You can also punch your NFL ticket with a team you actually love. Nobody loves Alabama that’s not from there.
.

As long as Baga has Saban they will have a major schematic advantage on defense.

On offense their scheme is nothing remarkable but power football with 5* RBs and a dominant line will win you a lot of games when paired with an elite defense.
Now they got an elite Qb that can sling it to complement that rushing attack.

Don’t be acting like Bama is this invincible force. They’ve lost a game every year that Saban has been there except 1, and that was 2009! They get the benefit of the doubt cause of the name on their jersey and the conference they come from.

If anything, them losing a game every year with the classes they bring in shows Saban isn’t the greatest coach ever, GOAT recruiter absolutely.

And in 2 of their 5 title seasons, they didn’t even win their own division. Again, benefit of the doubt.

We’re going to meet up with them in 2019 or 2020 and we’ll end their dynasty.!

In 2014, we only won 6 games but had 7 players to get drafted in the following draft. Yep, we had more drafted players than total of wins. COACHING MATTERS!

Look at that 2013 team and how many players made it to the NFL and started games.

Ufomba Kamalu (Started a game for the Texans, in the league since 2016)
Al-Quadin Muhammad (on the Saints)

In the past Alabama had premier coordinators on both sides of the ball allowing Sabon to manage the program and recruit. I’d venture to guess that if we had Locksley and Luopoi we’d be drawing parallels to Shannon’s staffs. I’m actually shocked that that’s the best they could do.

You start 11 on each side. Our problem under Golden wasn't top end talent, that year showed that we had that in spades. The problem those years was that the middle part and lower part of our roster that had no business being Canes whatsoever.

Lol. We werent losing games and struggling against wake forest because of our depth.

When the talent is equal, coaching matters. When the coaching is equal, talent matters. When we were great, we were blessed with both. Dennis could coach but recruiting sucked so he ran out of talent and his coaching stop matting. Coker was bad HC but Butch left so much talent ihis coaching didn’t matter(although the staff was still good then).

Howard said then only thing Miami needed was a good coach. JJ preached players, but him and his staff certainly got out coached in two bowl games that cost us two NCs. I think you need both.
I seem to remember Testaverde throwing five int's while Penn State capitalized on his color blindness, but can anyone name the HEISMAN TROPHY winner that year..?

Agree with above.

Coaches only have so much time in a day to do things while still having a life. An endless amount of analysts and support staff to break down tape, cut film clips, look for trends, track, report, build spread sheets, cross reference offensive tempo signs/play calls, etc is INCREDIBLY valuable. You either invest in them or you get left behind in today's arm race (at least until the NCAA does something to level the playing field with caps or something). Even then, Saban and others always find ways to work around the rules.

Saban has that.....most other coaches don't. Plus Saban (i guess you could add Meyer as well) is able to stack former HCs, DCs, OCs, etc on staff in roles as position coaches or analysts while most schools get their elite coaches poached or have to bring in some less known coaches due to salary limitations.

It not about the Xs and da Os. It about the Jimmys and da Joes. And as to da Jimmys and da Joes, Alabama has a decided personnel advantage over everyone on their schedule.
Thats how u win in college and u increase ur chance of winning by alot

Nope. The real problem was the coach sucked.

The very same. That is what I meant about JJ coaching. Had he given the ball to Highsmith 10 more time we win, but just had to throw even though PSU clearly was running asked sceme of rush 3 and drop 8 that Johnie Majors use the year before in beating same great coach and great QB in the sugar bowl.

Should sticky this post somewhere.

Bama running game full of road graders and now a QB who is the entire package, they aren't going anywhere offensively. The defense, will basically be as physical as ever.

Their staff isn't full of big names, but that's due to them getting poached yearly. So new names are added and the wheels will continue to turn.

Saban is still there as noted above. Richt is a recognizable coach with Diaz as the second most recognized behind him. We don't have big names just like them so does that mean we aren't oustscheming anyone as well?

You know they’re going to run on you and hit whichever wideout they decide to use that season and it’s tough to handle them up front.
