Pac 12 Players Asking for 50% of revenue to play this year

There was a good yahoo sports CFB pod today. First time I listened to it. Dan Wolke and Pete Thamel (Pat Forde was on vacation). It was very fair and balanced, IMO. Everyone agrees 50% of revenue is a nonstarter. The kids did themselves a disservice by making this demand, because it takes...

I think the big thing is the NIL rights. They should’ve had them years ago. We all know the top players get bags anyways. That addresses the issue of some players being worth more than others. if you read Bill Connellys article from today, it references bills put forth by Corey Booker (who...

Pac 12 Players Asking for 50% of revenue to play this year

Which is why I specifically referenced schools that are going online only for the fall, but asking football players to come back to campus. The schools aren't having students come back for the fall because (i) they think it is unsafe, combined with (ii) the liability concerns. Am I missing...

Pac 12 Players Asking for 50% of revenue to play this year

You don't see the hypocrisy of some schools going totally online in the fall, yet requiring football players to sign Covid waivers? And still not paying them? All while the coaches, administrators and universities make millions. They treat them as employees, but don't want to pay them. That...

Pac 12 Players Asking for 50% of revenue to play this year

I'd like to get your thoughts. Please click on the link in post #90. A bigger overall point that I am failing to make is the overall integrity of the US higher education system during Covid and combined with BLM. Enrollment was already down nationwide before the pandemic, and now with online...

Pac 12 Players Asking for 50% of revenue to play this year

Do you want to watch Clayton Kershaw, or the AA guy that gets called up to replace him? I agree that it would take a large number of kids to get it done. And it can't just be the walkons, there needs to be some big names (keep in mind, the 1st round CB from VT is already sitting out). But...

Pac 12 Players Asking for 50% of revenue to play this year

This was my thought when I initially read it. To call it a "demand" was a poor choice of words. They could have been just as demanding and let the powers that be know just how serious they are, without using the particular language they did. As another poster said, either they had poor legal...

Pac 12 Players Asking for 50% of revenue to play this year

Asking the kids to sign Covid waivers so that the schools can collect the television revenue was a slap in the face. Good for these kids for standing up for themselves.

Pac 12 Players Asking for 50% of revenue to play this year

Demanding 50% of revenue while demanding Stanford reinstate all the programs they cancelled is insane. Really, 50% of revenue is insane. But the health insurance should be guaranteed and the kids should get paid in some fashion.
