Six Canes selected in 2018 MLB draft Gonzalez and Cabezas are set to sign immediately. Bartow and Reyes say they haven’t decided. Great work as usual by Josh White. Definitely one of the more dedicated and plugged in WVUM broadcasters in recent years.

The draft is officially done. A little disappointed we didn't get Davis, but from a recruiting class standpoint the draft went about as well as could be hoped. We'll have to see what Reyes (and to a lesser extent Gonzalez and Cabezas) decide.

Looking through the media guide, our last Junior not to sign in the 20th round or better was Eric Erickson in the 20th in 2009. The highest more recently was Ruiz in the 28th in '15 and Radziewski in the 29th in '13. It only worked out for Radziewski who went in the 9th round the following year...

Round 25 complete without Reyes

The team loses the slot value of any pick they can't sign in the Top 10 rounds. The Astros screwed that up massively when they couldn't get Brady Aiken to sign at the post-draft physical injury discount they wanted with the first pick, and ended up unable to sign a couple other kids.

Probably the 5th or 6th round before teams are explicitly making senior discount picks. That's probably also the point when their fear of losing the total slot value of the pick from their bonus pool is closer to your fear of not getting signed.

Now we wait to see where Reyes slots in. Really no clue on that one. It wouldn't surprise me if we went in the early 20s, it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't get drafted. Fingers crossed on Bargfeldt getting a shot. Like I said last year, if injury prone fellow soft tossing lefty Eric...

Cabezas to the Twins. He should sign.

Probably about 80% chance he signs from here, but certainly worth thinking about a return.

Romy goes Round 18 to the White Sox

Given that Bartow went a little higher than I would expect and the lead time between Days 2 and 3, I wouldn't be surprised if the Nationals had a pretty good idea of what number he would accept.

Tend to agree with PGrady24 on Bartow. It's not worth the gamble that he can get into the 6th round or higher.

End of Round 15. I think we're starting to get into the territory where it's worth discussing whether or not Romy should return. He's got early Day 2 upside if he can put it together. With Cabezas, I think we're still in take the money and run territory.
