Miami-Penn St 1991 ''the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill game''...

I loved that Sonny used 'the 46/Bear defense' at times. Back then, with Miami's talent, and the way offensive football was being played, it was **** to deal with Erickson in the early years actually had a pretty good staff. But as guys moved onto bigger and better things, well, things suffered...

I'll have to check on that, but there was another back-up OLineman that was involved in that mess.

Later in that season, Erickson did start to employ a lot more early shotgun, with 4 wide. I think a lot of that was done out of necessity, with a poor Oline that couldn't run block all that well..

NJ, I recall reading a story on this game and Sacca basically admitted he was so tired and exhausted, that he was basically delirious at that point and just made the decision to chuck it deep. Hey, that Orange Bowl in the mid-afternoon heat and humidity did that to visiting players LOL

It was Patton and another player, IIRC, Solomon Moore who got booted for the credit card fraud I met Martin at the Arizona game that year at the team hotel, very nice guy. Was a really effective receiver out of the backfield

No lie, I was actually watching some of that hearing throughout the week. It was interesting-- but not nearly interesting to interupt any UM game, uh huh But yeah, pubic hairs on a Coke can is great stuff!!

Id argue that Sonny saved, or at least made the Colorado St program. Id argue, he wouldve been a better long term leader for the UM program than Erickson was

Sonny Lubick was a great DC. That season they rarely had any coverage busts or breakdowns. I'd be surprised when teams strung together a few first downs on that unit And they did it with a pair of 260 pound DTackes in Anthony Hamlet and Eric Miller Great talent across the board on that unit...

ok, so this YouTube channel ('SteelBuck 6') does a great job of cutting the fat out of old college football games and condensing them down to basically just the plays. Recently I found the 1991 Penn St game. Which outside of FSU was our toughest game that national title season I've seen just...
