Aren't Wong and McGusty testing the NBA waters right now?

All good points. The SEC has forever been a one team league and Kentucky may well be back in their usual position this coming season. And, the Big 12 (and PAC 12) teams clearly represented their conferences extremely well in the NCAAT. With Roy gone, and Coach K well into his final act, and the...

I suspect Muss may want Toney to swing down low and play closer to the basket. At 6'6, he is a very strong rebounder. I read somewhere though that Toney's future in the pro ranks is at Guard, meaning he may or may not be amenable to a position change.

    1. With the incoming classes + transfers at Kentucky, Alabama and Arkansas (and LSU and Florida remaining strong), I'll predict right now that the "top" of the SEC will be better than UNC/Duke/UVA or whoever else are the cream of the ACC this coming season. Maybe starting to look like a trend...

We shall see. Have you watched Demonte Davis (9 ppg as a true frosh, and maybe the best of the lot), JD Notae (13 ppg), and Desi Sills (8 ppg) play? And, now, Au'diese Toney (6'6 Guard who averaged 14 ppg at Pitt) joins Lykes transferring in. I'll bet Muss told Toney he'll start too. How could...

Based on this past season, the SEC is superior to the ACC in hoops. Only reason I'm expecting Lykes to put up inferior numbers at Ark is that his PT will likely be half what it would have been at UM.

    1. Maybe I should have said "guaranteed star" instead of guaranteed starter. Let's not forget this kid was picked as All-ACC by the so-called experts. With our outside shooting woes, I suspect Chris would've had the full green light to fire away and rack up numbers and accolades. He had a...

If it's all about a one-year "showcase" of your skills, I'm not sure how that comes into play. He'd be a guaranteed starter for UM this coming season, maybe the 4th guard at Arkansas. How does that help set you up for the professional ranks, overseas or in this country?

Devonte Davis, their 6'3 freshman G, impressed the heck out of me during the Tourney. Kid is athletic as ****, with major hops.

Exactly why a program like UM was a great choice out of HS for a player like Chris to get the opportunity to shine. Where you have a bunch of NBA prospects (the "blue blood" schools), not so much.

I wonder if Arkansas can/did promise him that? Aren't Moses Moody (Montverde) and Devante Davis both Freshmen? And, Notae and Sills rising Seniors? All four, if returning, are excellent Guards. Gotta think there was more 2021-22 PT for him at UM.

True, but is that REALLY enough to make a kid brought up in an urban, cosmopolitan environment, and who lived and played in Miami, to want to uproot his life to spend one freakin' year in the hills and backwoods of Arkansas? If he had, as reported, an offer from Southern Cal and wanted to go...

I'd really be interested in an honest answer from Chris or L as to what happened. I mean, what opportunity is available at Arkansas that was/is not available at UM? Wants to play PG (no player blocking him from doing that at UM), doesn't want to expend all his energy on defense (that's OK at UM...

Well ... that would put the "homesickness" argument to bed.

Chris makes it sound like he was prevented from being a PG here. I call BS. Had L "suggested" that to Chris a few years ago, Chris would likely have transferred then and there. He liked taking those 3's waay too much!

I'm with the camp here who thinks, at this point, that's an excuse that no longer plays (if it ever did, after the immediate impact).

I second that question. Cross and Lykes really never played together so how could there have been friction? You talking something off the court? As for Cross, I know he was a true freshman and therefore likely felt he had to show deference to the upperclassmen on the team but ... I think...

Good comparison. Earl seemed to me to be a lot stronger physically, and with his ball handling, than Chris has shown to date. Also Earl was a very good assist man, whereas Chris has always seemed to be "shoot first." Obviously, both have/had big defensive limitations.

Agree with your pro ball evaluation. As for leading a college team in scoring, he is more than capable of that.

"Running an offense." He's not a PG. Never has been, probably never will be. People see his height and automatically think PG. Not always the case, as we've seen here at UM.
