Wong trying to pull up on Ruiz

Wong and his rep were given the opportunity to negotiate. They settled on what they thought was a good price. If he truly wanted to get a real sense of his value he should've entered the portal, visited schools and if his preference was to stay at Miami, bring back numbers and see what Ruiz...

Wong trying to pull up on Ruiz

Yeah I'm not sure "I was leader on an Elite 8" is gonna hold the same type of weight as he thinks when it is backed up by "I'll leave that same team if I don't get more money". While I don't really buy that wanting what you think is market value makes you a bad guy, I'm not a coach and they tend...

Wong trying to pull up on Ruiz

TAMU didn't have any players publicly come out and say the deal wasn't big enough and if it didn't increase they were going on the open market. The one thing you can not do is be blatantly obvious. Wong has done that. No one will look at any NIL deal he signs at anything but pay for play. He...

Wong trying to pull up on Ruiz

I'd be interested to see how many business or NIL collectives tied to schools would match or even pay more than Ruiz did when the entire college basketball world is gonna be eyeing what Wong gets since he just made himself the face of "whats wrong with NIL in college sports". As soon as he sets...

Wong trying to pull up on Ruiz

Can Miami play him when the world knows that it took more money to get him to stay? That's explicitly pay for play. Miami will stay out of it but if he signs another deal to stay you can bet the NCAA will actually have a reason to start asking questions.

Wong trying to pull up on Ruiz

But because this is all so public thanks to Wong and his guy, any deal would be looked at as simply a pay for play deal to keep Wong at Miami. We know that's what is going but this would be explicit. I'm not sure Wong could go play any place with an NIL deal attached. Quotes from his guy can be...

Wong trying to pull up on Ruiz

Wong and his agent are asking for money based on performance and making the pay for play stuff fairly obvious. If Ruiz did redo the deal explicitly to keep Wong at Miami that would be a violation. I think Wong is done at Miami either way now.

Wong trying to pull up on Ruiz

He's also the guy that represents Jordan Miller and that amount went public too. Whereas guys like Darrell Jackson and Omier kept their deals quiet. So yeah it seems like the agent wants those numbers out there. Just like a pro agent like Boras would.

Wong trying to pull up on Ruiz

Zay was great the first weekend not so much the second. He signed a deal that he and that agent thought was good value. The same agent got a better deal for Pack. Thats how the world works. Ruiz is gonna treat that NIL agent and his future players like the HEAT treat Klutch clients.

Wong trying to pull up on Ruiz

Wong went for 20 twice in the tourney. I aint gonna pretend he isn't capable but simply put he signed a deal and as much as pro teams rip up deals, they don't do it two weeks after signing them. Xavien Howard wasn't thrilled Byron Jones had the newer bigger FA deal. But Howard actually did...

Wong trying to pull up on Ruiz

What Wong and his NIL agent will likely learn is that while we're getting to pro sports we're not quite there yet. Ruiz doesn't have a salary cap and no such thing as Bird Rights. Wong can certainly leave but there isn't anything stopping Ruiz from giving the bag to a better player. He played...

Wong trying to pull up on Ruiz

The guy who got Pack his deal represents Wong. Maybe he would've been obligated not to tell Wong what he got for his other client but I got a feeling this would've been an issue considering the connection no matter what.
