If you think I've talked about HS weight & BMI, feel free to quote me. But you can't & won't, because I never did. I don't know what to tell you - you keep talking about something that never happened. BUT - let me humor you: - CJ is listed on 247 at 5-11/178. He'll have to put on 30 lbs to...

Right - 195 and under RB's almost never have success in the NFL. There's like 5 of them total in the NFL. So if we need more NFL talent, why would we want 50% of players on our roster (at any position group) that are very likely going to be ruled out of playing in the NFL automatically...

The article @BoxingRobes posted uses RB's NFL weights - https://www.footballoutsiders.com/projection-points/2020/running-back-growth-potential-starts-size So that 29-31 optimum BMI is for NFL RB's - it's not using what those RB's weighed in High School. You're confused & incorrect on both...

No - this is what I originally posted and people got bent out of shape Knighton - 180 lbs (I know he's not on the team anymore - I'm just using him as an example since he recently played here) Parrish - 190 lbs CJ - 178 lbs Wheatley-Humphrey - 175 lbs Allen - 185 lbs While individually I like...

And what was their BMI leaving college? Stop flipping back to HS weights just to make it fit your argument. All of the BMI numbers were from college. Where was BMI shown in this thread using HS weights?

In general - Small RB's gain weight for the combine to show they're more durable. Large RB's trim weight to run a faster 40. You can debate actual weights all you want - but the combine and pro days are the only official/verified weights you have. Everything else is an educated guess.

I appreciate our back & forths @gogeta4 - but why do people always jump straight to the HOF'ers in terms of expectations and jump over the levels in between? - I'm not at all expecting Edge/Portis/McGahee/Gore - I'm not even expecting Lamar Miller/Duke Johnson - I am expecting and would be...

Because it matters for what we can project them to play at in college. If a RB recruit is 175 in HS - project 20 lbs on him to 195 and he'd still be a small college RB and a tiny NFL RB If we took a commit from a 140 lb RB, would you have concerns? Of course you would. So to act like weight...

Here's the weird thing - I'm giving you facts and you're interperating them as opinions. The average NFL RB is 214. The average FBS RB is 202. 190 is much lighter. How is that an opinion? Of the Top 10 teams in college last year - Jahmyr Gibbs was the smallest at 199. 199 may not be...

Exactly. Butch's RB's Edge - 216 Jackson - 210 Najeh - 247 Portis - 201 McGahee - 223 Gore - 217 We'll never reach that level of talent again, but we'll be better if we start looking more like it.

It matters because 190 is still really small for a college RB. 5-7 190, we're good. 5-10 190 - that's really skinny for a RB. Sure we can't find a guy who's 215-220 every year - but we should easily be able to find guys that can play at 205-210. I hear you that these guys will put on...

I agree weights can fluctuate and can be inaccurate in places - but if you don't use the NFL Combine or Pro Day weights, what should you use? Gibbs weights seem pretty accurate though - he was 191 in HS on 247, 199 at the combine, 200 on GT's roster & 200 on Bama's roster.

Those weights are from the NFL combine. They're the only "official" measurement - so it's the best to use IMO. But even then, there can be wiggle room/fluctuation. Kenny McIntosh this year was 204 at the combine, 216 at his pro day, and 210 on the roster.

100% this. Thank you. At any position group - there is an optimum size. The further you get away from thaat size, either smaller or bigger, the lower your odds for success.

That's pretty much equal. If you go back in Chaney's last 9 games - their ypc is pretty much equal in all 9 games. Chaney = 4.9 & Cam = 4.8 in the last 9. I thought Chaney had more potential and would overtake Cam - but it never actually happened on the field. The reality is they were at the...

I think what's misunderstood is just how small these RB's are. We're not recruiting 1 Big / 1 Small - it's more like 1 Big / 1 Tiny Here's the average weight of RB's at each level: NFL - 214 FBS - 202 FCS - 196 D2/D3 - 190 So if 50% of our RB group (or any position group) is that small -...

Because the more successful college football programs have the most/best NFL talent. The further a player is from the typical NFL athlete, the lower his chances of success. The more of these lower % type of players you have on your team, the lower the chances for the teams success. When you...

It's actually a Blackjack mentality You've got 17, and the dealer is showing 5 You want to hit, using the logic "I can win if I hit". My logic is "yes you can, but your odds are better if you don't". And we're both correct.
