I'd probably say socialism matters in many contexts (most bad) but your point here still stands as Crony Capitalism practiced by many of the good ol' boys you mention is basically just socialism for the rich/connected.
75% of someone's earnings seized and redistributed, eh? Sounds like Ol' Brian Kemp (R-GA) might be practicing.....dare I say it.....socialism.
