Agreed. Weather changes all the time and this was a brief flight. The pilot sounds like a total amateur for not figuring out how to safely land once it was clear he circled around for 15 minutes. And how the **** was he so oblivious to both elevation and speed?

Yeah, it’s very odd to see all this victim shaming that somehow places Kobe at fault for relying on a pilot’s willingness to take off. Does anyone honestly believe for two seconds that Kobe would allow himself and his daughter to board an aircraft in unsafe conditions?

It’s highly likely the dense fog that grounded LAPD flights and caused the pilot to hover for 15 minutes is the sole cause. To think there just so happened to also be a mechanical failure at the same time as the fog issue is probably something only the pilot’s company will believe to avoid...

Kobe could have just as easily, and perhaps with significantly greater odds, been killed while taking a limousine to the game. It’s not on the passengers to know if it’s too risky to fly. That’s on the pilot.

It sounds extremely negligent that a pilot took off in weather so foggy that LAPD air support was grounded.

I don't know why this hurts as much as it does because I always hated the Lakers and was never a Kobe fan. But I respect the **** out of his greatness, which can't be denied. This is surreal. I think we're going to remember today like we remember when Princess Diana or Michael Jackson passed...
