I love Nickel as a prospect. I've been vocal about that for several months. Great eval, IMO. But he isn't signed/enrolled. And his stock is climbing. If he sticks and they are willing/able to lay him in that mid-range, I'm all for it and that would be right approach. And if Nickel gets a 4th...

In the context of the actual subject of this thread (i.e., Judd Anderson), I'm not entirely sure what your argument is. If we had a c/o 2024 $500K QB on the roster behind Ward, I suspect it wouldn't be too difficult to convince him to stick around for 2025 (when Ward is gone). If he loses the...

Do you think that distinction makes a difference? Ok. Why would you ever sign and roster a kid if you thought there was a significant chance he'd never play a down for you?

I've never seen the numbers, but I'm confident that's right for OTs and DTs. Every year it seems there are some very good IOL and DE options. Seems like fewer OTs and DTs, though. QBs, WRs, RBs, edge defenders, and DBs seem to make up the bulk of the quality, P4 starter quality dudes.

If you think there's a significant chance he'll never play a down, why sign him in the first place? And what about the TF third team LT who never played a meaningful down this year, but was paid big money to sit? If the argument is "money tied up on the bench," doesn't that logic play closer to...

Fair enough. You spend more money on the proven commodity than an unknown one. I understand that premise. But if a team is going that route at the most important position in football, it needs a better back-up plan than Anderson. I don't want a $2.5M starter and $25,000 back-up. Yes, we...

Putting aside the small sample size, isn't this a strawman argument? Specifically here, in the context of Judd Anderson, who is currently the No. 57 ranked QB in the 247 Composite. Like, how many of the guys in the top 30 sign and produce for that school? It's one thing to say "it may not be...

Sure, but if we're talking QB development, he had a year under Lashlee to learn/develop before playing meaningful snaps in 2021. Even that little bit of consistency seemed to pay off.

I think TVD had 2 years with Lashlee (albeit one was a RS year). But that only helps your point, since 2021 TVD was probably the best version of TVD we had.

Careful with this line of thinking. Mark Richt (a great man and great football coach) played his college football QB at UM. Even he had a 3 year stretch where he brought in Jack Allison, N'kosi Perry, Cade Weldon, and Jarren Williams. All subpar (and that's being kind). Having played the...

This is a silly, semantic argument. The depth chart speaks for itself. Even assuming QB1 to start the Spring is promised, if that transfer doesn't produce and another QB on the roster is discernibly better, the transfer isn't going to keep the job for long. Any job that can be "given" is a...

I see you "looking" @cway313, but to be clear I'm not saying that's a logical/reasonable way to respond. I'm just trying to understand what he meant like the rest of us, lol. Note: You see what I did there, @da truth? By including @cway313 in my response and drawing attention to his...

I saw it and was trying to figure it out for a minute... best explanation I could come up with is that @da truth was actually trying to respond to @cway313's "disagree" reaction to his quoted post.

We have 2 c/o 2024 football commits. Not too long ago we suffered through Bubba "Buckshot" Baxa and Zach "Kicks it Back" Feagles. If that recent misery wasn't enough to teach you the importance of specialists to a football program then that lesson may elude you forever.

This reminded me of my abuelo, who would often shoot his mouth off and when my abuela would try to reign him in, he'd say, "no pueden hacerme nada que Castro ya no ha hecho." He wasn't wrong and neither are you. Miss that man.
