A main issue is the flooding in a lot of places though. This was a product of such a huge storm moving at a snails pace. I was in drenching rain and horrible wind from 230pm to about 930pm and then tropical storm conditions until almost midnight. The thing just wouldn't ******* go away. Each...

Also, the forecasts were all completely wrong until the morning of. It wasn't supposed the be this strong or move that far south. They models got it all wrong.

I am pretty sure we were well over 130 mph. I know the airport got 125 on the dirty side. After the eye passed it got much worse than that. So something over 130 for sure. I have a house less than a year old. PG was rebuilt after Charley. The really bad areas are surge areas, flood areas or...

Babcock ranch is also in the middle of nowhere and was only in the dirty side of the storm. They didn't get the worst of it as far as I saw. No surge. No flooding. The wind wasn't as bad there.

Finally got power this evening in Punta Gorda. Really feeling for those in Ft. Myers and closer to the beach. My neighborhood faired pretty well all said and done for being in the eye. I was finally able to get supplies to some friends in North Port. The river is still overflowing there.

FPL as of now has no idea when they will be able to restore power.

In the grand scheme of things I came out very fortunate. No flooding and minimal damage. Most of my damage came from my neighbors roof shingles slamming through my pool cage and trashing my pool. I have to replace my screens and drain my pool. Other than that, only small little things. No power...

I'm hoping, for my sake, that being about 20 miles inland from the gulf (I live a mile from the Peace River at the start of Charlotte Harbor) that the interaction it has with the bits of land between me and the gulf slow down the winds a little bit before it reaches my house full on.

Looks more and more like a direct hit on Punta Gorda again. Hopefully the surge doesn't get to me.

Looks like, hopefully, you should make it out okay. I am concerned about the track being moved south each time.

Looks like with every forecast update it gets more and more likely Tampa is going to be a huge mess. I'm in Punta Gorda. Looks like this mornings track pushed it a little more south so my outlook is worse than yesterday but no where near as bad as the people in Tampa. Still another day for the...

Nope. But I know enough about how Charlie went down in my area so, I'll spend the hour doing the shutters 😂

Yes it seems awfully like hyperventilating...so i am just preparing and hoping I am over prepared. I got some sandbags and put up shutters half way on the windows. I'll add the rest if it looks like a worse track tomorrow. Again though...I am more worried about flooding.

What are west coast fl canes thinking now? I'm in Punta Gorda in a C evac zone for storm surge. I'm borderline concerned since this seems to be more of a possible flooding event than a wind event for my area.
