I don't think this is going to end well for President Frenk...

I think this is different from what I was talking about but could be wrong. In either case, it is not good.

I went to law school to be a tax attorney and guarantee you couldn't figure out how to do so much as .1% of what I had to do on a daily basis when I first started my career. There is a lot more to the it than when you enter five boxes on your 1099 or W-2 on TurboTax and every April.

It makes sense what you are saying. Truthfully, the deans at UM Law were so underwhelming when I was there I didn’t really think much of their background. At this point, the school needs to watch the Seinfeld episode where Costanza does the opposite of his inclinations and good things follow...

I want to give you a laughing response for the chair but a love for everything else. My one friend who is somewhat dialed in still claims he is on his way out but I’m not so sure. If he is a lame duck, they absolutely cannot allow him to choose the next law school dean. I guess the current...

I stand corrected on the underlying subject, but the point remains the same. He was the dean of a school at a major university with a very well regarded academic reputation. The same as Frenk. He was and is more than qualified to run this school.

You’re a wise man, my friend. If there is one thing this school loves, it is money (cue picture of Shalala with Nevin). I hadn’t heard that story about that donation but you have to try to not get a massive donation while working at Harvard. I get their logic… he would drive admissions and...

There were so many parts of it that were bungled… the basic plan to acquire it and balance the relationship with Jackson, how purchase price, everything to do with Pascal Goldschmidt (cronyism, insider trading, retaliation culture, staff walkout), the mass layoffs, Shalala retaining Goldschmidt...

I think the undergrad and research parts are the dog and a lot of the rest is the tail that follows. It would have been nice if the law school wasn’t largely ignored.

Stop it. Frenk was the Dean of Faculty at Harvard, Stavridis was the Dean of Tufts' law school. Tulane's president was the Dean of Penn Law and has been doing wonders there. Please tell me what Frenk running the Ministry of Health in Mexico did to prepare him for his role at UM, absent helping...

I don't think this is going to end well for President Frenk...

The law school has always had a ton of LGBTQ in its faculty, students, and like you said, it was known beforehand. I have a hard time believing it, like you said. Whatever it is, it read negatively and raises even more questions about Frenk and the board. It is clear the bigger issue with...

Can you summarize for those without access? Fundraising at a law school is hard anywhere and in normal times. That’s crazy and if anything is more of an indictment on their initial choice to hire him. What a dumpster fire. Edit - was he hired when Bass was the chair of the board? You’d...
