I think the difference is the difference between being hurt and being injured. Most players say they can play hurt but being injured requires them to sit out. That is why team have an injury list for players who will not play in the game.

The good news is that the NCAA is still giving out waivers. Given that Miami is recruiting a center for the 2020 recruiting class, it makes me think that Nysier may applied for his waiver. Hopefully he gets it.
