According to UM's website, the main campus is 239 acres. So, yeah still bigger than Hardrock property but not that much bigger. https://welcome.miami.edu/about-um/campuses/index.html#:~:text=The%20Coral%20Gables%20campus%2C%20the,seven%20miles%20from%20downtown%20Miami.

Regardless, it’s not near any type of city center and you’re only going there if you’re going to the stadium or LAX

HRS is almost 40 years old. Of course brand new stadiums are nicer. I’ve been to SoFi. Like HRS it’s built in an area on the outskirts of town. Englewood is their Miami Gardens.

This is pretty much what I've said regarding building a stadium for years now. If UM does ever build their own stadium, it's still going to be nowhere near UM. It likely won't even be in the city of Miami unless Marlins Park gets renovated for football use one day. It would be great for the...

I was just down there a week ago. Unless someone is going to buy up acres of already developed properties and bulldoze the whole thing, it's not possible.

Where are they building an arena downtown? I honestly don't pay much attention to hockey so that's news to me.

I'm pretty sure every venue tacks attendance the same way. Maybe not 40 years ago but they stopped using turnstile numbers decades ago.

What if they were able to secure the property and build a stadium but it was nowhere near the University or the actual city of Miami? Like, it would be owned and operated by the school and any profits would be the school's to keep. but it would be way off in Northwest Dade county.

It is what it is. Nostalgia can be a *****. Lots of fans think the Orange Bowl was always full because they only went to the FSU games or games against Oklahoma or Notre Dame. That’s what they remember. The 2000 FSU game might have been the greatest fan experience for a sporting event in my...

I mean the team hasn’t been good for 20 years now. There hasn’t exactly been a ton of memorable big games for the program period. Of course there were more memorable games from the years when the program was good. The thing about the Orange Bowl was that you knew it was a dump but you could...

They have always based attendance on tickets sold at HRS. So if you buy a season ticket just to go to the FSU game (this is not uncommon) your seat counts as filled for every game whether you show up or not. They sell roughly 40k season tickets annually so even if there’s only 35,000 people at a...

Pretty much every college football stadium was built that way. The difference is, those stadiums were all built on University property. Miami doesn’t have the land to build a stadium on. That’s the biggest issue. The actual stadium costs are only a portion of what the total costs would be...

You realize that a football stadium complex would cost significantly more than anything on the campus? Not only would you have to cover the costs of building the facility, you’d have to secure the property which would likely be bigger than the entire UM campus. The largest donation in UM...

Hardrock has the 32nd largest capacity in college football so it’s bigger than 100 FBS stadiums. Outside of the SEC and BIG10 most college stadiums hold under 60,000 people.

Nobody is going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars building a stadium and “gift” it to the University. Even if Ruiz did ever build a stadium, UM would just be renting it from him. In order for UM to actually have their own stadium, they would have to build it themselves. It’s like...

I honestly believe the idea of building a football stadium near the campus is an impossible dream based solely on the lack of available land. Now there are areas with the actual land to build a football stadium but you’re either going to have to travel much further north or south of the campus.
