I’m talking about the GM perspective. Let’s say you spend a high pick on a guy who opted out of the CFP. What’s going to happen when you’re relying on that guy in the playoffs, he gets a minor hammy strain and he sits out because he’s about to be a free agent?

I don’t hold it against them morally or anything. But I’m not betting on that player to help my NFL team win games. Give me Jaylen Waddle.

Terrible news. Hope he makes it up and more on his next contract and through insurance. As for the question raised in the OP: if a kid sits out the CFP for fear of getting injured, I wouldn't draft him. That same behavior will resurface when you're paying him in the NFL.
