RBs are different in that it’s the easiest position to scout. Contrast RBs to QBs, where most of the greats were picked outside the Top 10.

Which makes them unique among special backs. There are good backs everywhere, but the real difference-makers go early. Here are the HOF running backs from the modern era (post-1950). Over 86% are Top 32 picks, and an incredible 69% were Top 10 picks. Only 14% were drafted outside the Top 32...

The spot for Taylor is the 49ers at the end of the first. Their system operates with cheap backs, but look at what happened when you put a true talent (Terrell Davis and Clinton Portis) on those old Denver offenses. It adds another layer of explosiveness.

10.41 in the 100M and 4.39 is a different level of home-run hitting ability. How many RBs in the NFL have those numbers at 225 pounds? Do any?

You're right on James White not winning the Super Bowl MVP. I forgot Brady stole that one. White merely set a Super Bowl record for receptions (14) and scored 3 TDs. Pretty good for a fringe player. Mahomes is an example of why it's silly to evaluate based on school. The irony is that we are...

Taylor is ten pounds heavier and much more explosive than Gordon, who himself is a two-time Pro Bowler behind a bad offensive line. James White is better than an OK player- he is a Super Bowl MVP who has averaged close to 70 catches over the past four seasons. Evaluate the player, not the...

James White and Melvin Gordon are good NFL backs, and they don’t have Taylor’s talent. If you looked at his athletic numbers and his production without knowing where he went to school, you would say first rounder. He makes 20 yard gains into 60 yard gains because the speed is real.

Yep. If a guy was a durable workhorse in college, that’s a good thing. Parcells used to say that the most important thing in scouting RBs is production. Obviously, that goes deeper than just getting the NCAA leading rushers, but the best RBs usually dominate at every level. Look at the five...

McCaffrey makes $4 million a year. He’s not the reason the rest of the team is bad. Their franchise QB broke down and the front office made poor choices. McCaffrey was one of the few good ones. As for Goff carrying the Rams, we must’ve been watching two different teams. Goff lived off of play...

Carolina stinks because the rest of the team is a disaster. He carried them. The ‘18 Rams are an example of an elite RB in a dynamic offense. They were smart to spend a high pick on Gurley. Their only mistake was extending him as he was breaking down.

I agree. Taylor is still being underrated nationally. This guy is the most productive back in the draft, the most explosive athlete, he’s big, physical and durable. Backs like Taylor and Dillon might not make you miss, but they don’t need to. I didn’t see Tennessee, Baltimore or San Francisco’s...

CMac is not a cog in Carolina’s offense. He is the offense. I get not paying RBs on their second contract because they break down. But special RBs change your offense, and there is no issue using first round picks on truly special backs.

CEH is not as special as McCaffrey but he is awesome. Great receiver, always makes the first guy miss, excellent balance. Rave reviews on character, too. He’s an easy second rounder in a really good RB class.
