I was and still mostly am was just extremely frustrated with last season. He’s not an Xs and Os guy or a HC that is going to call plays. He’s not an offensive guru like Riley or a defensive guru like aranda. He’s more of a recruiting/ceo type coach which is fine-he has won plenty at Oregon...

Of course he is responsible for the on field coaching but it is clearly not his strength though and never has been. He is not a gameday coach. He doesn’t beat you with Xs and Os schematically. He hasn’t made any exceptional coordinator hires either. How he wins is through amassing elite...

I am not evading the issue. My point is that I know his gameday coaching leaves a lot to be desired. It isn’t perception, it’s reality. That is why he needs to recruit at an insane level. He is not an offensive or defensive specialist himself so he basically has to hit on 2 coordinators...

It gets him better players which gives you a better chance of winning despite his gameday coaching. If he needs to win on game days in order to acquire the talent we are screwed.

You can by “overpaying” with a boat load of money

Unfortunately Mario needs to be in a spot where his recruiting efforts help him on gameday. He can’t be in a position where his game day coaching is needed to help him in recruiting. That has to somehow flip and quickly.

D- what are you hearing on our NIL budget in comparison to last year’s? If it’s even comparable and we had that innis money, I would think we would have a ton to spend looking at who is currently committed.

If the staff saw this go sideways with the mother they should have took that as a hint and moved on. Maybe they did. But if they didn’t then the two weeks since of them being left in the dark is due to their own stupidity, not his.
