The press release was straight off Hurricanes.com. Brevin was on the Mackey watch list early in the season. Then they whittle the watch lists down to finalists this time of year. It seems Brevin’s not a finalist for the Mackey. Understandable considering he’s been out a lot.

One has to admit that Manny saw an opportunity to fill some obvious holes and took full advantage of it with quality players. It also gives the staff time to develop the young guys and not have to throw them in the fire. Time will tell if this strategy pays off.
