There zero downside. I think people were expecting his job to involve more hands on responsibility... so they’re disappointed. And also.... this place is def weird AF.

It is a fluff hire to some extent.... but I don’t think there’ll be a problem with the kids not respecting him. That’s going too far.

Lots of people work full time remotely, but it doesn’t matter. And there are no other people with his title in cfb. Considering what he was brought on to do, I don’t think he needs to live on campus. He can cal croots and look at film from home. He wasn’t hired to restructure the organization.

Also, he doesn’t have to be in Miami to call recruits and evaluate film.... which I think are two things he mentioned doing.

Doesn’t sound like he needs to be working full time to do the job manny wants. He’s just an advisor and mentor, a consultant. Consultants don’t generally work fulltime with clients. Theres really no downside to this, but expectations by us need to be managed.

That depends on the job manny wants done. Seemed pretty clear that ERs role will be that of a mentor, setting the tone of the program. Teaching the kids what they need to do and how they need to act. Also, recruiting in whatever capacity he’s allowed. On the phone and on campus. Etc.

That’s very possible. I was thinking it sounded like they wanted some staff changes. Which is what they got in the end, if it was the O where they wanted those changes.

Wonder what he meant by “I talk to a lot of ex players but I’m not in a position to do what they want.” what do the ex players want?
